Another new LEGOLAND...

Merlin, Merlin, Merlin...

STOP creating new parks from scratch and invest in what you ALREADY HAVE! *rolls eyes*
 
Well at least Japan will have a nice, shiny new theme park while the UK parks continue to rot. :/
 
I don't know how Merlin operate and so on, but I would imagine that the money for this doesn't at all affect the budgets of parks such as Towers and Thorpe. Though I agree that it would be nice if they put the money they are using for projects like this into their existing parks.

are they trying to become bigger than Disney? they seem to want to try this whole build from scratch thing with parks, so I guess it should be interesting to see what they do.
 
I've said this before, and I'll say this again. Merlin aren't interested in creating "magical experiences" for people. They are operating on a model of simply expanding as fast as possible.

Remember, their measure of "second to Disney" is not based on attraction quality whatsoever. It is simply based on the number of guests across their entire portfolio. The more attractions they can open - however good or bad they are - increases this.

And by the time the public have woken up to the declining quality all-around, Nick Varney and the rest of Merlin's management team will be far away into the sunset, and it will be the rest of the attraction staff will be the ones who bear the brunt of all this.
 
Its almost sad in a way as Disney have of no plans of slowing down, be that expanding parks or building new ones, Merlin are clutching at some serious straws...
