Drayton Manor Park

Yes I know, this is my exact point and that's not what im disputing. I am disputing the fact they are telling passholders they get a free wristband. When it's not free. They are giving people what they paid for.

But passholders also paid for entry to the park, as part of their pass. Now they are actually giving that away for free, it lowers the value of the already paid for pass. As the cost of the pass technically covered paid entry to the park for 12 months. Not 12 months less 2 days.

Pedantic maybe, but tired of big companies doing what they can to squeeze more money out of paying customers.
Its called businesses running a park is not cheap and the aim is to get as much out if you as possible whilst also keeping the price down as possible

It’s quite interesting to see this. It certainly does put into perspective the excellent value of pay one price when one ride on Gold Rush or The Wave alone costs £10!

Or the prices are set in such a way to make the POP price attractive. They're pricing a knackered old Giovanola and an Intamin family coaster higher than something like Wilde Maus XXL.

I understand that, its acceptable. If you read what I actually said, the cheek comes when you have already given them your money via an annual pass, they are then lowing the value of that pass, which you have paid for, with nothing in return.

You still get discount in the shops, food and free wristband and free parking the only thing that's change is entry into the park that's it really

It's only a one-off for two days though, don't have to go if you don't like it.

You are completely missing the point.

Entry to the park, which I have paid for, for a year. That they are now giving away for free, to everyone.

Even something as simple as offering passholders something like a complimentary coffee and a cake, would go a long way. They make too much profit on them to give them away.

Remember, passholders have paid here, already. So why are we having what we have paid for, de valued.

I'm not, at all. I'm also not the one who's getting worked up about a one-off event that is only on for two days. As I said, you don't have to visit on either of those days if you don't agree with the temporary changes.

You still dont seem to have grasped the issue. It is irrelevant if I visit or not, the pass that has been purchased, has still had its value lowered after the fact. It doesn't matter if I like it, dont like it. Vist on the days or dont visit. The pass's value has dropped.

Thats quite a cheeky move by the park, if it was any other industry, you could have trading standards on their case.

Any annual passes get paid off quickly depending how many times you go a year 2 days doesn't make a difference

I don’t see the problem here? Surely this is no different to parks having a promotion on for cheaper entry, Sun free tickets, BOGOFs, even the other year Thorpe were doing £10 entry off peak at one point. I see this as a positive opportunity to take friends or family along for the day who wouldn’t ordinarily want to or be fortunate enough to go. I’d be more inclined to agree if it was for the whole year they’d completely changed their pricing structure, but this is just 2 days and frankly the ride ticket charge per attraction is obscene. I can’t see how you’ve been done dirty here?

What a miserable take. You’ve bought entry to a theme park for a year, not a gold bullion. Quite sad to say you see the value in that drop if grandma is wandering the park while her grandkids go on the rides.

Its basic economics, the value has dropped. Its not rocket science.

Its not me who chooses that the value drops, that's how economics work...

I don't see the negative comments for this. I think it's a great little event / celebration for the anniversary.

For the people moaning about Annual Pass holders let's be honest. Unless you visit EVERY day the park is open you're never going to get the 'full' benefit from your pass. On top of that I'd say the chances you were going to visit the park on those two days of of the year are pretty slim also.

And as someone already said you're still getting your pass perks. (Sorry couldn't find the quote)

...and could I be the first old git to shout it out...

"THE RETURN OF PAY PER RIDE!!!"

Thank you, I feel better now.
Sensible idea to me when lots of people are really struggling in a dodgy economy.

Now bring back the abc tickets at the Beach.

Let's be technical, I don't think anyone would be getting the fullest benefit from the pass as it'd be a very big commitment to visit every single day.

With full benefit, I'd say visiting as many times as the cost of the pass would be getting full value and benefit from the pass.

I really don't think it's going to affect many people at all, Drayton Manor have priced the all day wristband as equivalent to a day ticket and passholders get a free wristband anyway.

It's really going to bring in people who won't necessarily ride or will only do one or two rides (such as very young children, grandparents or someone who is unable to ride many rides).

It kinda is a win win promotion for Drayton and might bring in a few non riders (senior citizens such as the grandparents is probably the target for this promotion) which is probably their aim. The point of the event is nostalgia as it is the 75th anniversary of the park with the museum and the pay per ride promo.
