[2028] New Rollercoaster (Euro-Mir replacement)

I still think that politically a “revamped Russia area” will be a hard sell with the public, perhaps progress has slowed due to them still being unsure as to what to do with the area as a whole as part of the ride refurb?

It isn’t just Euromir that’s a bit naff after all, Bench is no better.

Tear it all down and start from scratch I say.

How dare you sully the good name of Bench! One of the best dark rides in Europe!!
 
I think EuroMir gets rethemed to space, the traditional Russian section with wooden buildings stays. Interesting that it sounds like new rides are also coming in the area, in addition to the Mir rebuild (in whatever form that takes). If there is a drive for more of a family focus, that could mean a Eurosat style taming, which in my mind was a positive step to provide a ride experience that’s enjoyable, thrilling, but not too intense.

I think this is for the best myself. For me, Euro Mir was easily Europa’s weakest coaster when I visited back in 2022, so I won’t be particularly sad to see it go, and with how good some of Mack’s recent stuff has been, I have faith that whatever replaces Euro Mir will be brilliant!
 
Personally happy to see the back of Euro-Mir in its current form and excited to see what the replacement is, along side additional new rides.

But - keep the theme music bitte!
 
I’m getting serious Deja vu to when Eurosat closed.

Epic soundtrack: ruined.
Great coaster: bulldozed.

But actually it turned out fine. Have some faith; this isn’t Roland’s first rodeo.

It's a shame that they are removing something so iconic, but maintenance may have been getting too expensive.
 
Seems like the rumours (especially the ones they explicitly denied) were accurate. The German language articles using the word "abgebaut" which means "dismantled" and not "destroyed" so it does seem very possible that the ride hardware itself will be removed and the mirror towers will remain intact. Might be tricky as the ride is completely intertwined with the towers, probably on a structural level, but I imagine they can figure it out.

Overall seems like good news to me, Euro-Mir is currently second-to-last on my EP coaster list ahead of the bobsled ride. I usually go on Euro-Mir once per trip and remember relatively quickly why that's the case.
 
As a founder member of the Mir fan club, it's news I've been bracing for for a long time now but still a shame to see it confirmed.

Mir as a coaster feels like it's from a different era, the final few curves riding like one of the Schwarzkopf giants of the 80s with the sort of high-G curves you just don't get nowadays.

The ride is showing its age, with the rotation particularly unreliable over the past couple of years, but it's still visually iconic, has a legendary soundtrack and offers a wild and extreme ride. I can see why many hated it, but it will be missed.
