[2026] Bluey Coaster in CBeebies Land

I think the frustrating thing is once upon a time the UK were pioneers of the theme park industry, a time some of us lived through. It was very exciting. What's coming next!!

Those are now distant memories and even our best parks are very much second or third tier on the global scene. We're left to get excited about a pair of childrens coasters that will likely be no different to rides that existed in the parks 40 years ago, simply with IP tacked on rather than a creative use of it. Otherwise it's Minecraft at Chessington, Paulton's developments and Universal. The remaining 3 Merlin parks have nothing we know of on the horizon. There's a general air of underwhelming investment in UK parks.

The most exciting thing in the past 10 years was the UK getting another hypercoaster, almost 30 years after the last one, of which there are many better elsewhere. A good coaster but didn't deliver on expectations imo. The UK arguably hasn't had a landmark statement ride since Thirteen in 2010. And we don't need to but it's a shame there's so little to be excited about, it's more often than not one (needed) patch job after another.

I would argue that we pioneered innovative ride hardware more than we pioneered the 'theme park', which was in essence just copying what the USA had done 3 decades earlier, but adapted for the UK market. The ride hardware that we helped pioneer in partnership with Europe, was not specific to the theme park concept or industry, as it was just ride hardware. This is however, a debate for another time.

Agreed, love the discussion here but I'll remind everyone that this is the Bluey topic and to keep discussion (at least roughly!) to this please 👌

My son is almost 12 and still watches Peppa Pig and Baby TV. I fully expect this will extend into adulthood. Hopefully people aren’t too judgemental when he wants to continue enjoying things like peppa pig world.

Think we know that I'm referring to the types of people who make being a fan of something their entire personality, see also Disney & Harry Potter.

Seeing people posting theories about who the prospective father of future Bluey's child will never not be weird to me.

Sorry if this is off topic, and I certainly personally don't care who the father is, but they did show adult bluey's daughter in the show. That's probably why people were trying to figure it out.

Looks like the theming feature might be the Heeler’s House. Would be funny if the coaster is meant to be some sort of backyard coaster, as it looks like they’re going a bit heavier on theming compared to other CBeebies products.

Also seen communication elsewhere from the park about this being the ‘first’ Bluey addition to the area. So hopefully they might address the capacity issues this coaster will be facing, but unlikely that it’ll be within the same season as the coaster.

Finally, there might be Bluey-themed uniforms, as per the AT Run event today, which is pretty cool. So that indicates they might develop a Bluey sub-area going forward, no point developing new uniforms for one kiddie ride alone.
I didn’t do the run, but I heard Bluey was around in CBeebies land during the run, I assume the uniform you mention would just be what the ents team wear during the Bluey show, like they have a Hey Duggie outfit that the staff member wears during that show.

Looks great wouldn't want it blue as Octonauts is already itself blue.

I don't understand going Dark Colours with Coasters as it shows the dirt more than light coloured coasters
Depends if we re talking about Sutton or Cheam?

The Meaning of Liff said:

Sutton and cheam (nouns)

Sutton and cheam are the kinds of dirt into which all dirt is divided. 'Sutton' is the dark sort that always gets on to light-coloured things, 'cheam' the light-coloured sort that clings to dark items. Anyone who has ever found Marmite stains on a dress-shirt or seagull goo on a dinner jacket (a) knows all about sutton and cheam, and (b) is going to some very curious dinner parties.

I do hope we will get an understanding of why this ride needed to go where it is and why they couldn't of just rethemed the octonaughts coaster. My guesses would be:
  • Capacity not high enough on octonaughts (nothing leads me to believe this will be much better)
  • A special ride feature (seems unlikely given the planning application)
  • They wanted it by the cbeebies entrance
  • Postman pat needed to go (why not rethemed)
  • They felt they needed another low height restriction coaster with RMT having a height increase (Paultons and Drayton are doing much better at this especially at the 1m height mark)
Either way with spinball having frequent operational issues and probably not too long left they could of used the whole area for a Bluey themed land if they had gone with octonaughts rather than just a single attraction, it feels like it will need it with the popularity. Then Horizon could have been the replacement of spinball for the same demographic.

Is it me, or has this ten quid kiddy coaster from Temu generated more discussion than the Nemesis refurb?

(Obviously not, but I'm struggling to see what there is to discuss at this point?)
..... Oh. Wait...
.................. Closed season.

To all the points:
1. It will help support Octonauts during busy periods it can get 75min queues so this will help in some regards. My guess is that Octonauts is still watched which is why its not been rethemed.

2. Could have a special feature and time will tell if they do I wouldn't fully trust the Planning Application because Alton have hidden elements in the past like they did on The Smiler and Toxicator.

3. I think they did want something new near the entrance as its not really changed that much heck pretty much the entrance way was the similar rides to Storybook Land's entrance.

4. My guess would be that Postman Pat the Ride itself has seen a decline in popularity and itself wasn't the highest throughput either.

5. They do need more rides below 1m and this will help a bit. They would be more threatened by Drayton Manor than Paultons due to location.

These are my opinions.

I am reserving judgement on this ride till its opening day and it is complete. Personally I do feel that it should of gone in the old Mini Apple plot of land not been used in years and you could of used the theatre with Bluey attached

Spinball Whizzer had a brand new PLC installed for the 2023 season. It's remaining for some time yet.

It's incredibly likely that the licencing agreement with the BBC does not permit CBeebies properties to appear outside agreed areas (CBeebies Land, in this case).
