Alton Towers Map Collection

Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help? I’m a collector of park maps, particularly Alton towers and Thorpe park.
Does anyone know if Alton towers produced physical papers maps for every year or was there a year or years missing? Especially Covid times! It which case I can stop searching, google AI says there was one every year, but I sort of remember a post of Facebook a few years ago says they are reintroducing them, or did I dream that? lol, any help would be great. TIA

AI is incorrect. They did stop producing them during Covid. So you'll be missing 2021-2023. They were reintroduced with Nemesis Reborn in 2024.

Also worth noting, that there is a physical 2020 map, which was not used on park, and shows The World of David Walliams, before the area was moved to a 2021 opening. When the 2020 season got underway they basically reverted to the previous year's design.

But other than this there is at least one map per year from 1980 onwards, and in the years before that in the guidebooks.

While I remember, I've noticed the TS atlas is getting a bit out of date, have we got maps from 2023-25 that we can scan in?

I do, yes.

Funnily enough I clocked that very issue earlier in the week, but it hadn't quite got to the top of my to-do list yet, as I've been doing some other site upgrades.

I've also just invested in a new scanner, so at some point I might see if any of the older maps could do with an update.

Did they not have a new physical map (front cover etc anyway) for 2020 that was available to guests but only lasted a little while though until they were pulled from circulation? I can vaguely remember that as I didn't get hold of one whilst they were available on park and only got a couple in the past couple of years on Ebay (the actual design of the pullout map may have been the same as the previous year, I have no idea). Been moving house and everything is all over the place so not able to check at the moment. Then it would have missed 2021, 2022 & 2023 and then they came back for 2024? Hopefully you can clear this up?

The 2020 map was never available to guests as the park didn’t open because of Covid and when it did Walliams was delayed by a year. I think the map on the park just used the previous design and paper maps didn’t exist.

Towers did give out or send the 2020 maps out of people asked for them at the time

Thanks. My memory was playing tricks with me there. I have managed to pick up a couple in the last few years from Ebay, so that was good (found one of them today when moving some boxes). I did write to Towers towards the end of what would have been the 2020 season asking for a map, but they totally blanked me (rude)!!
