Phantasialand: General Discussion

It's a bizarre ride. Managed to cop a go in 2024. Had to go through an airport style security checkpoint to remove any cameras etc. first.

I'm heading to Phantasialand next month for two days on park and a night in Ling Bao. Very reasonably priced as a midweek deal, and looking forward to checking out the refurbished pool, spa and sauna in the evening. However, I'm taking a group of newbies, and the only food option seems to be the buffets at Ling Bao or Matamba, which are now each pushing 50 euros per person, plus drinks. I've only been to Wintertraum in the last decade, but with shorter summer opening hours, the preferable option of eating at one of the generally excellent on-park restaurants isn't viable.

However, I did just notice that Rutmor's Tavern in Klugheim is, as of a change one week ago per Google, listed as open until 8PM daily.. Can anyone, local or a recent visitor, confirm if this is correct, and the park is now serving cheese boards and schnitzel after ride close? Or is this too good to be true?

As much as I love Phantasialand on its own terms, I have been bitten more than once by their erratic opening hours, and even the hotel website now comes with a warning that all advertised schedules are "non-binding", which is a loose translation of "we'll do as we please, cheers." Similarly, who knows what bars will be open, if any, or whether they will be serving bagged nuts. There's not even a pizza vending machine nearby. Presumably, as the planning process for such an installation in Bruhl would trigger a local political crisis.

We got pizzas from the place next to Taron as the park was closing last October. Was still fairly lively with people milling about eating and drinking.

Last weekend when I was there most restaurants close before park close and had signs outside the entrance with the times, that included Rutmors.

I also noticed most food places do close at ride close, we walked back towards the main entrance not long after ride close and the majority of outlets were shut and being cleaned.

Booking our trip for later in the year and interestingly the park have added Quick Pass to even more attractions this year, including Mystery Tower and the 4D cinema. Wonder where the Mystery entrance is, quite like the queue for that!

On the plus side the suites now include FLY so my son won’t have to do the endless walk.

Can’t say the increasing fast track influence is a good thing but they’re evidently seeing profits. At least the capacity is quite strict for now.

They’ve also blocked the queue time scraping sites somehow.
