I never got on this attraction, but from what I've heard about it, I think I might have liked to. Is it a funhouse?

Please discuss here :)

It was a large fun house with lots of interactive areas.

From my memory...

There was a 'pre show' room with a giant microphone and an alien (I believe was part of the presenter line up) encouraged you to make as much noise as possible. When you shouted loud enough doors opened up to the next room.

This was a sound effect room which had a cow in the middle. Again you pressed buttons etc and noise was made.

After this it had more traditional fun house areas, there was a shadow wall where it froze your shadow for a few seconds.
I remember a rope bridge too. And a room with mirrors where you put your head in a wall and it distorted your face etc.

The finale of the place was a cinema type room, where you took a seat, the alien returned and showed that the entire experience had been filmed. Clips were shown of you going through, laughing at your action etc.

You left via a photo taking area where you were super imposed with various Nickelodeon characters, then into a shop and cafe. I think the Cafe also showed Nicktoons.

I remember the Nickelodeon ride quite well, despite only being 10. I was a massive fan of Nickelodeon as a child, I even went to see the studios in London as a child, and also won a goody bag and all sorts. So when I found out a ride was opening I was very excited!

I remember the outside of the ride being all crazy with pipes and all sorts on the outside, and the main entrance to Cred Street was through the archway near where the driving school is, there was a giant Cred Street sign there.

There was a small cattle pen outside the building (where frog hopper is now) and then a bit of a queue inside. I seem to also remember the staff had themed uniform, I remember white lab coats?

I do remember the computerised alien thing (he was a presenter on Nick). I also have memories of the shadow wall, and the rope bridge area that had a walk way underneath for parents. And also a room where you put your head through various holes to look at pictures, mirrors, etc. And that is one bit where they filmed you for the film.

I have a ride photo somewhere of me and my family, it has all the Nickelodeon characters on it. It's a shame that the ride only lasted for one year, I quite liked it, and its such a shame that the building has remained empty since 1998!

Edit.

There is a page about the ride here on TowersStreet: http://www.towersstreet.com/history/past-rides/nickelodeon-outta-control/

And it also contains some photos and plans:

You can also see from the plans, the original ride was going to be called "Nickelodeon: Mind Maze"

Excellent find Mike! Ive never seen the plans (well chuffed they were on the site).

Ok so looking at the map, you came in, there was the small cattle pen.

The 'briefing room' was the one with the giant microphone.

This leads into the 'sound/ pump room' - which had the cow.

I can't make out the next Z shape corridor, not sure what that was.

The next room (I can't read the sign) is where you put your head into things.

Then the 'flash screens' were the shadow walls we mentioned.

Following that is the net / bridges and slides (I don't remember slides) into the landing zone.

'Control Room' was the finale, you can make out the tiered seating boxes and the stage where the screen was.

I do remember you were filmed all the way around too. As a friend of mine upon seeing the cow in the noise room bent down and pulled its udder to see if it made a noise (it didn't) but no-one saw him, when the video was show we all saw and he was very embarrassed.

You can view a bigger photo of the plan in the gallery here: http://www.towersstreet.com/gallery/history/plans-and-concepts/Nickelodeon%20Outta%20Control/

I'm not sure if it all turned out the same, but the only thing i'm unsure of us where did they take your photo, as I can't see it on the plans, but there is the bit at the end to buy it.

I hear that this season some parts of the ride were made into an entertainments green room, however I would love to wonder round this attraction just to see whats left of it.

They also gave you a wallet that opened with the nick logo on the front just like the hotel wallet with the key card in . still have 4 of them . You could also buy the video that had filmed you as you went around.

I was just thinking, as no one mentioned being able to buy the video, that Towers were missing a trick there!

I think no one brought the video as in the attraction they made you do things that a lot of people felt a little daft and intimidated I know we did we felt a little embarrassed . I also knew one of the cast members that took you around and he hated it because it was so cringe .

My dad found loads of old photos recently, including these few of me and my brother outside the ride! Sorry about the quality, but I haven't got a scanner so I have just taken a photo of them on my phone.

I knew the staff members had themed uniform!

Me and brother next to the Cred Street sign, that is near the towers, directing you to where the driving school and disabled entrance to Hex is.

Man I love it when new tidbits of this attraction begin to surface. Yet it sinks me into further sadness that the place is still simply used for storage. By the sounds of it with more IP's beginning to surface, a low-cost no actors needed just staff onlooking interactive version of Outta Control (if it's apparently still near intact) wouldn't be the wildest of possibilities in the next low-cost spending year.

I've always wondered how many points for storage are actually on site, but I'm sure new ones needing planning permission in the former Coaster Corner would be easily accepted, surely?

I think they recently built a new storage building behind the back of the Nick building, you can see it from the top of the towers. However i'm unsure how much of the attraction is still there. Part of the cafe/Shop was ripped out for the ice age game stall a few years back.

I would love to have walk in there and have a look round just to see what it still looks like.

I do remember it being at the park, but I am struggling to recall if I ever managed to go inside - even reading people's descriptions of what was inside. It's possible queues were too big and put my family off.

The last post on this thread being nearly 10 years ago is pretty crazy 😂 Just remembered that this attraction existed and feels absolutely insane to me that the building still, after all these years, hasn't been repurposed for anything - the same for the old CCL/4D theatre. I wonder why that is?

The odds of both buildings still containing the old theming at this point is probably 100 to 1 and is probably instead just a massive storage warehouse, but blimey i'd love to have a good nosey around.

This attraction is an interesting concept that I would have liked to experience, but it seems like it was not executed very well.

It was used for backstage stuff. A lot of the original ride was still in there. I think it’s incrementally been removed as they have used the building for other things but I wouldn’t be surprised if some stuff remains.

The last time I was in there, most of the theming and layout was still present in Ice Age, though a lot of kit has now been repurposed - lighting, sound, even the leg ticklers saw a new lease of life elsewhere.

Nick is essentially a woodwork/scenic shop but with all the colourful decor on the walls still :)
