The Fifty Shades Fad.
Read my posts over the last few pages, I've sort of tried to counter this. I'm not sure the book's aim is to be well written, rather to arouse women. And I'm not sure why sex should really be censored more than violence, bad language or drug use. Surely sex is much less harmful and much more...- Nick

But then what if a short adult wanted to buy the book, and couldn't reach it- being on the top shelf and all? The embarrassment of having to get someone to grab erotic fiction for you must be horrendous. Surely you must think of the short people! This is a joke, by the way.- Nick

The Fifty Shades Fad.
That's what I was saying. The Bible is possibly the most famous book ever written, therefore is hugely popular and widely read, therefore having huge publicity. However, children don't read it that often. Therefore, publicity, in terms of books at least, has very little effect on children.- Nick

The Bible has significantly more publicity that Fifty Shades of Grey, and when do you see children, who aren't raised to be Christian or Jewish, ever reading it?- Nick

The Fifty Shades Fad.
Why would children open the book? It's never going to happen. Their parents would tell them it's a "grown-up book", or something like that. And how, without opening the book, would they come across bad language?- Nick

To stop children being exposed to sex all you have to do is ban music, television, film, literature and the Internet. So only pretty much all media.- Nick

I'm not sure you understand, I was saying that there's no bad language on those covers so, even if children see them, they aren't going to "lose their innocence".- Nick

I didn't know rude language was pasted on the front cover, the only place in the book that children would ever see... ::)- Nick

The Fifty Shades Fad.
This is ridiculous. If they're a young child, then they'll go to the bookshop with their parents, and they'll probably never even realise this book was there. A child wouldn't look for books in the adult section, instead they'll just move to the children's section without a second glance. And...- Nick

The Fifty Shades Fad.
I'm sensing another band-wagon thread... Personally, though, I've never read the book, and I'm never going to. It's purpose is not the be well written, but to arose women who can't be pleasured sexually and I can't really comment on how well that does that. I can, however, question how everyone...- Nick
