I think we will get some days with longer hours, but I would expect the core hours of the park might be 10am to 6pm as it is in Florida outside of peak periods.- jon81uk

Very few will actually want to live right next to a theme park. Lots of traffic and noise issues, look at the case of the Ropers v Alton Towers.- jon81uk

It wasn't reallyt a documentary, more a sales pitch. But also Disney had other shows like the True Life Adventures that inspired Adventureland and coming out of the 1950s Cowboy films were everywhere (although not sure what Disney actually made in that genre) so Frontierland was heavily...- jon81uk

UK Politics General Discussion
I think this is the issue. Politicians want to say they aren't raising taxes, but also spending money on things like the NHS. When actually we need to raise taxes.- jon81uk

There is a lot of housing being built a few miles away already, hence the need for the new rail station- jon81uk

Coming years, they won't be recruiting ride engineers until a year or two before opening. Right now it is high level planners and managers being recruited. That is more of a UK mindset, as we are flying all that way. Whereas US citizens don't get as much annual leave so are more likely to do a...- jon81uk

Drayton Manor Park
Excalibur had significant issues with the underwater cable system that pulled the boats round. Maintenance was likely getting too expensive.- jon81uk

Although isn't that known at the time of buying the pass that the only major difference is you get an extra 24 days you can visit, including things like fireworks, bank holidays, halloween and some half term weekends. If you don't need validity on those days, get the lower tier pass. Disney is...- jon81uk

The ticket prices are reasonably fair, £29-39 for a full day out is pretty good value really and comparable to many other things. Issues are the discount vouchers giving a further 25% off these prices and the annual passes causing additional visits meaning the park isn't likely covering its costs.- jon81uk

WDW Epcot: General Discussion
I'm visiting WDW in November so avoiding spoilers on the new version. But the best one was still the first Test Track with the actual real world style tests. Given a good amount of that is still used it would actually make sense to have kept the safety test theme I think.- jon81uk

This isn't going to happen, they've just built a hotel at Warwick Castle and English Heritage likely aren't interested in running a resort, or maintaining waxworks and similar. Warwick Castle has operated in its Tussauds form for about 40 years and I don't see it changing to just being opened as...- jon81uk

It is worth noting that two have been amusement park issues and others are festival issues. Yes it could speak to poor overall safety management but they are quite different things.- jon81uk

Glastonbury
"Asked if the event still stands for something, Sir Michael told Glastonbury Free Press, the festival’s resident newspaper: “Oh heaven’s above, yes, of course it does. “And I think the people that come here are into all those things. People that don’t agree with the politics of the event can go...- jon81uk

Same. Although I rarely used them, it was a good thing you could get something more resembling a proper meal, rather than just a variety of places offering something and fries or sandwiches.- jon81uk

Its closer to a theme park than most of the other attractions in the midway group (full day attraction, multiple aramark catering operations etc), thats why I think there might be more to this? Although Warwick Castle has scaled back its catering and similar quite a lot anyway.- jon81uk

I wonder why they have done this? Warwick Castle has Aramark-catered food and overall is closer to the theme parks in terms of it being an almost whole day visit, with special events, shows and similar. Whereas I don't think any of the midway attractions really have cafes even now and don't...- jon81uk

But it wasn't "artificially inflated", if the price drop had not gone ahead then the higher price for renewal would have been charged. Renewal in 2024 was £179, increased to £189 in 2025 and people will have paid £189 so it is not artificially inflated. It just looks odd to you as the rate has...- jon81uk
