    Merlin Entertainments: General Discussion

If the price went up and then back down again it is a price drop. Doesn't matter if its the same price you paid last year, if they were charging a different price and have dropped it back to what you paid last year it is still a drop.

That is still a price drop, I would normally expect prices to rise each year.

There was some discussion a few years ago due to the Russia-Ukraine war and gas shortages https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63170747 I thought more recently though we have been OK with solar/wind and reduced our dependence on gas. I've not heard anything about it being a major risk in...

Have Alton Towers actually funded any of the road improvements? Staffordshire Council applied for central government funding for improvements to the A50 and the B5031/B5032 which also benefitted JCB a company with even more money to pay for infrastructure improvements projects...

The station at Wixams has been planned for twenty years and supports a significant amount of housing already under construction. We absolutely should support new rail stations.

I am expecting some form of Mario game before Christmas too, similar to when Odyssey came out for Switch 1.

    Chessington World of Adventures Resort

In general I would agree for most roles, but generally once you get to director level I think it is more about negotiation of pay. But yes for most roles it really should be on the advert.

It already exists, every other Sunday in the summer can get the coach from London, via Milton Keynes and Bedford. £52 for an adult including park admission. https://altontowers.thecoachcompany.co.uk/coachtrip/?page=bookingaquote&trip_type_id=10&trip_cate_id=&trip_group_id=1#ecm-trip-booking-page

    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Even if it is a relatively simple trick, if him and his team are the ones who did the work then they should still get the credit for it and if they only gave Thorpe the rights for a period of time then it makes sense. Not much different to if Alton Towers had just renamed it to Charles and the...

    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

The park needs dark rides and non-coaster attractions. Nothing but coasters just leads to people feeling ill.

    [2026] CBeebies Land Junior Coaster

I think Thomas has some appeal up to 7-8 years old. But also its just the way each land is presented, Thomas is a more well-rounded "kids" area with things for most under 8s. Whereas CBeebies has the CBeebies name on it, showing it is clearly aimed mainly at pre-school age.

    [2026] CBeebies Land Junior Coaster

Don't forget CBeebies is mainly aimed at under-5s. Alton Towers should be looking at slightly larger rides, but for other areas of the park. As has said before on here, the issue isn't so much the addition of the coaster, its the removal of the simple car ride suitable for all age groups and...

    Merlin Entertainments: General Discussion

and I don't think making the full annual pass cheaper would be the answer, but is likely to come. Merlin seem to value quantity of guests over quality of spend. I would think guests spending a higher gate price is better (as Paultons aim for), but Merlin obviously prefer just trying to get...

    2025: General Discussion

Part of the issue is that Aramark now set the prices and they need to pass whatever share of profits to Merlin as well as making their own. That.s been one of the biggest things driving the higher prices, now two companies are trying to profit on food. The pass is good value to many guests who...

    2025: General Discussion

I agree with your broader post. Although the logic of food sales are down so let’s give more people lower priced admission doesn’t quite make sense. If they know secondary spend is proving harder, why offer a deal that entirely depends on secondary send to make significant profits. If people get...

    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Minimum wage is £22,222 based on 35 hours a week. Initially felt £27,500 was a low salary for a H&S manager, but its not a manager at all, just someone to gather reports and pass to other people

    Merlin Entertainments: General Discussion

Are the parks really that quiet? I thought we had left the dirt cheap season passes back in 2019. I don't get the logic of these, will they really make that much secondary spend on food from those third visits in three months? Or will Thorpe Park just be used as a creche for teenagers again as...
