Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
Having worked in retail, I would have been in trouble if there was significant levels of wastage. I would have rather someone told me "I paused making ice cream because having no spoons was causing wastage" instead of "I had to throw away ten ice creams and refund those customers".- jon81uk

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
Given its a touchscreen ordering process, the sales would just keep coming anyway. The sales are coming at all costs with no regard to the practicalities already. The touchscreen might allow way more orders than the staff can handle anyway (which sounds like it is the case). The employee is just...- jon81uk

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
The post stated "The woman then kept making more ice creams and of course people kept asking for a spoon." that is directly the employee who was making them not thinking. Yes it is a management issue not having enough stock of spoons. But as I said, everyone should have some common sense and...- jon81uk

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
Does no one have any common sense any more? Did it never occur to her to stop making something while waiting for the spoons? While this is definitely a failure of managing the unit correctly and having adequate staff levels, it sounds like every single employee at every level should share the...- jon81uk

Drayton Manor Park
Its great value, but is it a long-term good thing for the park? If it works and a lot more people do visit, will the queues/experiances be good enough for them to come back at a higher price? Or if not many people visit then the park is just selling tickets at a low price and not covering costs...- jon81uk

Universal Epic Universe - New Florida Theme Park
Yes it did, but its been closed for a few years. I don't think Epcot has any outdoor actual attractions? There is now the Journey of Water thing and of course some shows are outdoors (like the Chinese circus performers) but overall although World Showcase is very outdoors in general I think all...- jon81uk

Islands of Adventure has similar issues during lightning too as it was heavily focused on outdoor attractions, the addition of Forbidden Journey and Kong Skull Island helped a lot, but Spider-Man does still get incredibly busy if lightning means outdoor attractions get closed there too.- jon81uk

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
If someone has ordered plain pasta, no sauce for a picky child I would definitely not expect a "sprig of something green on top" as that alone could be enough for the child to choose not to eat it.- jon81uk

I would assume they asked for pasta without sauce. It would look OK with sauce as a proper dish. Although £10 for a child meal is a rip-off.- jon81uk

Universal Epic Universe - New Florida Theme Park
I think ticket sales were capped quite low for opening day to ensue the queues weren't too bad. Hopefully the issues with Battle at the Ministry will be resolved so it can actually cope with a full park.- jon81uk

A bit like the old Corkscrew at Alton Towers, its a bit short but pretty good for a kids first inverting coaster. Especially with the vertical lift hill and drop too.- jon81uk

True, I got more of a rural village feeling from it though. It’s not over the top on the “cogs and steam” bit of steam punk. EDIT - I realise I mixed up two areas of Phantasialand, the rural village is the area round Taron, not FLY. I get what you mean about the steampunk look to FLY.- jon81uk

Paultons Park: General Discussion
Thats not an escapist theme park theme. A theme park should (as the sign at the entrance to Disneyland states) help you "...leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy". It shouldn't take you to the Apple Store. Thinking about the current Paulton themes, Tornado Springs...- jon81uk

Funny things you've overheard people say in queuelines
We were on Jurassic Park River Adventure at Universal and not long after setting off we heard from a small child in front "Mommy, you know I don't like dinosaurs", followed by wriggling, crying and screaming for most of the rest of the ride.- jon81uk

Attraction Source (what was Towers Times) organise some big enthusiast events, often with speakers from the parks https://www.attractionsource.com/events/ Also RCCGB (Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain) organise many events for their members. The Brexit Thread
I thought Brexit would mean £350 million to the NHS, not over £200million on port facilities that are likely to get demolished anyway, https://www.theguardian.com/business/2025/may/21/brexit-food-control-post-at-portsmouth-may-have-to-be-demolished-says-port-director Also of course Farage...- jon81uk
