The toboggens would also make some sense with Bluestone. They could have a nice mini-park with megaphobia, toboggens and a couple of smaller rides.- jon81uk

Is the theme park industry dying?
Yep, Although I can recall paying around £100 for a Tussauds pass in 2002 and using the inflation calculator a Merlin pass would be the equilivant of £98-137 (silver to gold) back then, so given the additional attractions you now get following the merger, the Merlin pass has kept with inflation...- jon81uk

Is the theme park industry dying?
I don't think they are expensive really nowadays, the parks always have been a little expensive. Back in 1991-1995 my family did an annual trip to Drayton Manor with my mum not getting a ride wristband to keep the cost down. One year we did go to Alton Towers by saving vouchers at Safeway...- jon81uk

2025: General Discussion
Although I think one thing that has changed in the last few years is that many supermarkets and similar have started paying more than the minimum wage, even just an extra 50p an hour will likely make a big difference together with the cost of commuting all the way to AT. I agree the main people...- jon81uk

Also with supermarkets paying higher, whats the incentive to take a minimum wage job with a significant travel time to get to it.- jon81uk

Alton Towers/Merlin Typos & Grammatical Errors
The top tips here https://www.altontowers.com/about-alton-towers/blog/top-10-tips-for-visiting-alton-towers-resort/ has tip 7 - work anti-clockwise - which suggests that many people got to Spinball Whizzer and X Sector first, which is anticlockwise! This definitely would not be the case. They would not spend money on surveyors and plans for one park to try and work out what to do at the other end of the country.- jon81uk

Folly Farm doesn’t include rides in the admission price though so can’t really compare. You’d probably still fill most of a day out, but just zoo animals is a different day to riding megaphobia. Folly Farm ride wristband is £15 (or four for £50) or can get tokens. So if rides are important to...- jon81uk

But Paulton having a much higher entry price of £45 also the number of visits needed is different to the Merlin parks at £29-37 a visit. it did feel like Merlin were moving towards slightly higher prices and less reliance on offers a few years ago and they were willing to try and switch model...- jon81uk

Discovery pass is the main one that is priced OK, but needs the days tightened up slightly, so it is only term-time weekdays excluding events and school trips. Most of the time those dates are £29 for the theme parks, so four visits and it covers the pass. But it helps bring in more guests on...- jon81uk

CWoA would benefit a lot from fewer passholders (or more blackout days) and higher ticket prices. Fewer guests paying more should be similar income to them, but everyone gets a better day out.- jon81uk

Thorpe Park: General Discussion
Its rare to have single seats on the front row available on a two-abreast coaster, unless there is a single rider in the main queue. A group of three would normally take the front seats with two people ans the third goes second row so a single would batched from SRQ to second row. Whereas on a...- jon81uk

Pirate Takeover 2025
Yeah things like RMT used to be open, but they had a few half terms of heavy snow and they could't run some rides so they scaled back the event to stuff they felt they could guarantee to be open. I think this year the relatively mild weather obviously encourages more visits. But might be better...- jon81uk

RCR is between two very popular rollercoasters and has a really interesting gimmick. Also that location was chosen to allow hotel guests to get in easy for dinner. Woodcutters is between Hex , Rita, Oblivion and Walliams. It’s probably one of the major crossroads of the park with the second one...- jon81uk

I think the major reasons why the Walliams Street Burger Kitchen is quite now is because there are not enough attractions at that end of the park, Dungeons was an upcharge and now closed, 4D theatre is closed. People will make the slight effort to go to Woodcutters for a pint and plated food...- jon81uk

The toilets are literally at the back of the building though. I can see why they didn’t add any when there is existing toilets right next door.
