If it wasn't for the annual pass though I think Paulton may overtake Chessington. As you say Paulton won't overtake Alton Towers and is aimed at different people than Thorpe, but its a very similar park to Chessington really. The Minecraft stuff may also help save Chessington. As for Universal...- jon81uk

2025: General Discussion
I think one thing that also happened in the 2000s was the park started to focus on what the branded outlets couldn't, they added Rita's chicken & Ribs building on the knowledge of the hotel teams to run waited service meals, and made improvements to Towers St and other outlets as well as new...- jon81uk

Merlin Parks & Attractions: Quick Questions.
This sounds like the employee magic pass. Not sure how they work now but I had a friend who had one years ago where it was just 52 visits to attractions and they had tear-away tokens you handed over when "buying" a ticket on the day, so they were fully transferable. But as Goose says, the...- jon81uk

Other than the prices I don’t think the food and drink was any worse than pre-Aramark. All the issues like poor bartenders and limited breakfast selection were in place before Aramark took over. The only things that got worse I think are prices and the fact Burger Kitchen only has meal deals. I...- jon81uk

[2025] Toxicator: New Forbidden Valley Suspended Top Spin
The seating area has been there for many years, its nothing to do with Toxicator and more just that part of FV is badly planned out.- jon81uk

Oakwood Discussion
I think the cheap flights to Spain hasn't helped, people don't holiday to Tenby and south Wales as much as 30 years ago, because you can get overseas easier. Oakwood used to be an OK park in the 90s, I remember loving the assault courses they had, the toboggan run, the dingy ride etc. The park...- jon81uk

[2025] Toxicator: New Forbidden Valley Suspended Top Spin
What other path? The seating area for the coffee shop takes up a lot of it and the route under Air lift hill has been closed off. The location of the coffee shop and its outdoor seating has made a lot of the paths in that area poor.- jon81uk

Hotels General Discussion
I also stayed at ATH for the fist time in five years last year and it was fine. Breakfast was slightly better than expected, but I had low expectations. The cooked stuff was good, its little things like the variety of jam and pastries that could be improved.- jon81uk

Legoland Windsor
I don't think Legoland has any stronger brand identity with shows that Chessington? The stunt show is a strong part of the line-up at Legoland Windsor and repeat visitors know to expect it, but I'd expect some form of live entertainment at Chessington too. I don't immediantly think of "Legoland...- jon81uk

Chessington does have a strong amount of shows with the Mane stage and have has many different stage shows over the last 5-10 years with many of them using IP characters.- jon81uk

It's a low capacity opening with only a few rides open and they will be prioritising those purchasing hotel stays that make them the most money. Day guest tickets are sold out too.- jon81uk

Universal GB - Archived Pre Announcement Discussion
True, I don't think Universal use any outside companies or contractors in the parks? I know Disney contract or franchise out quite a few things and some operations have been that way since the original Disneyland 70 years ago. Yes, I think its likely that Merlin are not counting seasonal staff...- jon81uk

Merlin apparently only employeers 30,000 people worldwide, so even considering the indirect employment of independant hotels etc that number seems huge.- jon81uk

Disneyland Paris: General Discussion
I thought when leaving Marne-le-Vallee some of the passport checks were still done on the train? I think it is both really, it was only one or two direct services a day so the economics weren't great, both of running the service and upgrading immigration check facilities due to the new...- jon81uk

Drayton Manor Park
So from 2000 when Pirates was ten years old. Again, can't remember it myself, but makes more sense it was getting bad by then, not "within a couple of years".- jon81uk

Drayton Manor Park
My memory of 30 years ago is hazy but I can't remember pirates being a "health hazard" back then, it was a popular attraction. Maybe ten years later in the 2000s when focus shifted to Excalibur. But its 90s heyday was great, that's the period most of the DM nostalgia is for, as has been said its...- jon81uk

From whats been said they are already paying an arm and a leg through their internal charges to Studios North. In terms of other redundancies it does make sense to centralise finance and similar for all the RTPs rather than AT, Chessington and Thorpe all having their own teams. Only negative...- jon81uk
