I think that's a generational thing, they're not saying the ride is called 'The Big Dipper', they're saying the ride is a big dipper. A big dipper = a roller coaster. That's always been my interpretation of that phrasing at least.- Alexsutton

CBeebies Land
Re: 2014: CBeebies Land The BBC won't have any input on the advert. All of the IP licensing is through BBC Worldwide who don't have (as far as I am aware) any department actually producing any content, only selling productions made by the BBC and things related to them (i.e. magazines, merch...- Alexsutton

Planning: A Trip to Orlando
Personally Epcot is my favourite of the four parks at Disney so it's interesting to read what other people thins. Everyone's opinions differ so my advice to the OP would be to try and do everything if you can, you might like something other people dislike and vice versa so there's no point...- Alexsutton

The Smiler - General Discussion
I think the indoor section would look amazing if the track passed through a series of 'walls' alternating solid yellow and solid black, build on the 'hypnotic' theme whilst at the same time making the opening section a bit more eventful. I don't know how effective it would be depending on the...- Alexsutton

The Smiler - General Discussion
The fins aren't pneumatic on the lift, if you watch a train climb either lift on The Smiler you can see that the fins get pushed down into the track when the train passes over them and they bounce back up when it has cleared. There is a mechanism on the car that means in one direction they are...- Alexsutton

Looks great apart from the lower case L in 'belong'. It's bad that that's one of the first things I noticed.- Alexsutton

The Smiler - General Discussion
I don't think I've seen this mentioned before, but is it just me who wonders why they bothered fitting the glass floor in the entrance/exit to the shop? It was one of the rumored things during construction which has actually turned up but you can't see a bloody thing through it. I had convinced...- Alexsutton

Going Against The Grain
Can't argue there, made my point pretty badly in my original post! That being said though, if there was a hypothetical choice between the ride exactly as it is today, and the same ride but without the 'scare maze' section after the lifts, I'd choose the latter every time.- Alexsutton

Going Against The Grain
I prefered Sub Terra before they added the 'scare maze' ending. It gives me absolutely no thrill or pleasure and just slows everything down as you get someone in front of you moving slowly, and the person behind you pushing you forwards. I'm ignoring the rest of the ride as that was generally...- Alexsutton

HELP: Florida 2014/5
I went last September with my girlfriend and absolutely loved it, we did things on the cheap, but not to the extent that it made things a chore. We went for three weeks and stayed in a cheapo hotel on International Drive, just opposite Wet 'n' Wild and we've ended up booking again to go in less...- Alexsutton

Most Missed Rides
Toyland Tours without a doubt, watching the video TS posted to YouTube earlier today reminded me how poor Charlie is in comparison.- Alexsutton

Quick Questions
Re: Quick Questions 2013 Howdy folks, I'm heading to the park this week for the first time since The Smiler opened. So far I've avoided anything spoilery so it would be appreciated if any answers could be spoiler free! Basically, I'm considering using the single rider queue to cut down on...- Alexsutton

Quick Questions
Re: Quick Questions 2013 A question for anyone who's been down in the past couple of days, how bad are the roads in terms of snow? I know it's still snowy at the park but have the roads cleared up in the surrounding areas? Thanks!- Alexsutton

Six Flags- Backwards Batman?
This would perhaps add more weight to suspecting Thorpe will be turning Nemesis Inferno backwards, rather than The Swarm? It would be much easier for B&M, assuming they are involved, to develop the necessary modifications to turn any Invert backwards, rather than tackling the same problem for a...- Alexsutton

Thorpe Park: General Discussion
Re: Thorpe Park As much as it sounds pretty awful, I don't think the queueing would be an issue. Just change the front row queue for the back row? Unlike other rides it doesn't actually connect directly to the front row, they use that odd pass system. Granted, you'd lose the front row queue but...- Alexsutton

Blockbuster UK Collapses
Just been into Blockbuster today to use up a gift card I got for Christmas whilst they're still accepting them. Chatting with one of the members of staff there who has been there a while, he tells me that this isn't the first time the company has gone into administration, they got bought again...- Alexsutton

the ITV thread
I believe the big day is next Monday, the 14th. That's at least the day the rebrand is taking place internally, I imagine that will mean the same for the on-air identities as well.- Alexsutton
