Photo from Alton Towers Guide on Facebook: Looking at the fencing in the background towards Thirteen, it looks like the route goes through that tunnel and into what used to be the Rita fastrack queue entrance and then into the usual pathway.

In terms of the actual ride experience there's not much they can do to 'liven' it up, it would have to be either an extended ending section or just more actors in the general area.

I would imagine it's the area of the flume that's closest to Gloomy wood that is the problem, the Skyride is probably far enough away from the affected area. I'm not saying that's definitely the case, I'm saying that the Flume being closed doesn't necessarily mean the Skyride will be.

The closure of Sub Terra says to me that it's not anything like a tree falling over, this has to be something affecting a large area as N:ST can easily be accessed from the Forbidden Valley side if there was a tree fallen somewhere. A gas leak or even a bomb scare seems the most likely...

The closure of the Monorail does suggest it's something moderately serious, if guests can't even me moved past the area in that proximity.

I do think it's a shame that beach volleyball is seen by most as a bit of a joke event.

Fantastic show so far, really spectacular. You could run some kind of 'elements copied from previous Danny Boyle films' bingo though.

There's nothing on the gondolas to absorb any impact, it would take a lot of metalwork to make that an effective option, and that is assuming that the gondola fell without rotating at all. I'd much rather them put the effort into making sure the gondolas don't fall, rather than a shock absorber...

That's the only system I could imagine that would be remotely effective. It still probably wouldn't be great for any gondolas on the section that breaks, but it would provide the most coverage.
