2025: General Discussion
Hex is poor given how little it has been open. Even with Skyride closed at the start of the season, it is poor given the length of closure required to undertake these works. Would not be a great way to kick off the new season.- James

Obscure UK Parks
So sad that they couldn't save the museum side of it. It was a wonderful attraction and always a highlight of our Cornwall holidays.- James

Russia vs NATO
Here's the full exchange. It's not the most pleasant watch. I feel Zelensky dealt with it very well. He does not want to sign his country away and he's right to take a stand on that. Trump and JD Vance come across as two kids in the school playground. It will be interesting to see how...- James

Oakwood Discussion
Funnily enough, they announced their 2024 opening a year ago today (28th February), so I wouldn't say it's odd to have heard nothing yet. They usually open in April, so I would expect an announcement within the next few weeks if they intend to reopen. Removing two rides suggests they will open...- James

2025: General Discussion
People still make videos (and plenty were made last year) of the VIP experiences, so Towers are still getting free advertising. Why waste money on mounts and additional equipment when you can get a few cheap phone lanyard holders on Amazon for the same result? Besides, watching a video of...- James

Oakwood Discussion
I can't find anything online, although I'm sure The Roald Dahl estate took Oakwood to court over not owning the rights/permission to use their IP.- James

Big Persons Seats.
Nemesis and Oblivion have bigger seats with double seatbelts, you can ask the ride host for these. The Smiler is probably the most accommodating ride on park so that should be fine. Wicker Man, Th13teen and Galactica can all be restrictive so might be a struggle. Wicker Man and Th13teen...- James

Indeed. However, Towers quickly did a u-turn on that within less than a week and offered people to return for another track walk (or a refund).- James

Universal GB - Archived Pre Announcement Discussion
I think Universal will consider HP. It wouldn't surprise me if we saw it as part of 'phase two'. I suppose Universal will find out whether they can gain the rights to use it or not. I don't buy the argument that it would damage the studio's tour. One would be a theme park, and the other is...- James

Exclusive parking by the FV entrance/exit would perhaps be more enticing. You can film, but only at specific points as per the T&Cs. Most YouTubers will be aware of this.- James

Which UK theme park do you feel is left most at risk by the potential of Universal entering the UK?
Hopefully, no parks will be greatly affected. I feel Merlin will take the approach of being the 'budget' option. They have the MAP as an advantage over Universal. People will be most concerned about Alton Towers. I think the Towers will be OK. In the worst-case scenario, they get rid of an...- James

Future Flat Ride Speculation
Indeed, NST and Hex are not new rides. However, it has been insinuated on these forums that the rationale for opening these rides later in the season was to boost visitor numbers. Apart from hearsay, there are no figures to support that. My point still stands. Adding new rides midway through a...- James

Future Flat Ride Speculation
I doubt we'll see new flats, either. It's not exactly the Merlin way to spend £££s on new rides without advertising them. Given the huge marketing for a top spin, why would they not go the same way for one or two other new rides? I'm not convinced adding new rides midway through the season...- James

Local Government Reforms - How could this affect Alton Towers?
To add to AT86's post, even by the hotels, everything was built on land with little trees. This picture shows the accommodation area before Splash and Enchanted Village were added. I'm not sure what the rules are surrounding tree removal, but you only have to look at Th13teen to see some...- James

Future Flat Ride Speculation
If they are building additional flats, adding one depends on the amount of theming/work required. If they so wished, they could quite easily plonk a flat in, say, X-Sector within a few weeks since the foundations for Enterprise and Submission are already there.- James

2025: General Discussion
I remember as a kid going into Cred Street McDonald's and struggling to find a table as a family. If you wanted to go in those seats and tables themed as cars, there was no chance, unless you wanted to wait and scramble with another family fighting for a table. The theming was great in there.- James

[2025] Toxicator: New Forbidden Valley Suspended Top Spin
I know where the operator might sit was discussed a few pages back. Looking at this screen grab from the video, could that cutout in one of the 'tanks' be the op booth? It seems like it.- James

2025: General Discussion
We need a Pepsi vs Coca-Cola thread. I'm personally team #PepsiMax. Franchised outlets making a return doesn't bother me. They just need to ensure a range of good-quality food across the park. As I've said before, I think food is very inconsistent across Alton Towers. Aramark is...- James

[2025] Toxicator: New Forbidden Valley Suspended Top Spin
It looks a bit bland, but then they've purposely cut out the theming features in that video (presumably because they are not finished), so it's hard to judge without the 'full package' in action. Hopefully, the theming features, music, and/or other effects will all come together. I don't mind...- James

Vloggers/influencers at parks and attractions- Is filming or photographing others without their permission ok?
I'm sure it's already been mentioned, too, but Paulton's is much smaller than a park such as Alton Towers. So vloggers perhaps have to be a bit more aware when filming than somewhere like Towers, where you can go somewhere quiet to speak to the camera. I have a degree in photography and still...- James
