Galactica's Future
The shows tend to take many months of planning. If a retheme were planned for Galactica, it would be too late to change the Fireworks show/plans. I don't think it particularly makes a difference to the Fireworks show, as creatively, it works anyway. It’s not exactly like the story was ‘Come to...- James

2024: General Discussion
Am I right in saying that the stage was only used for the CBeebies event this year before Oktoberfest? If we expect more cuts in 2025, I wonder whether we won’t see the stage until Oktoberfest (no events or stage entertainment prior to this).- James

2024: General Discussion
It always felt like the spa was under-advertised, likely due to the limitations of the space. It wasn't a huge spa and was a repurposed space itself from a kids club/hotel pool, so the limited capacity, I think, has always been reflected in the lack of advertising. There are spas up and down the...- James

Ride Availability/Operations 2022-25
I think it's a good family-thrill ride that bridges the gap between RMT and the more intense thrill rides. The outdoor section lets it down a bit, but it's a decent enough ride. Lack of reliability as a reason for removal you could apply to any ride at any point in history. At the moment, Alton...- James

Hex [2024 Refurb]: General Discussion
Yeah, I found that a bit disappointing. Given the time it has been closed, it's a shame they couldn't 1. fix that curtain and 2. make the preshow doors automatic (they're plain old doors that the staff member has to open, I imagine that gets tedious all day). It's great they've fixed the ride...- James

Monorail Refurbishment
The monorail is a disgrace at present. The whole experience is miserable: being held back to wait for one of two trains to arrive, sitting in a mouldy, filthy train, squinting through the microwave holes filled with filth, and making out the silhouettes of the theme park behind. When we...- James

Is it over for MMM?
The large projects involve multiple external suppliers/companies/creatives working collaboratively with MMM. So, I see little change to any future projects (if Merlin decides to continue to invest similarly). I imagine, if anything, this will affect the smaller projects (TLC to Hex) and events...- James

Is it over for MMM?
Yeah, I'm certain that MMM was notorious for overcharging. Hence, Towers go to Leek Signs for all their signage, as MMM would cost double or triple. I wonder whether this arm of MMM was a leftover from the Tussauds days and kept existing out of loyalty (for all of Varney’s flaws, he had a soft...- James

Merlin Entertainments: General Discussion
I don't disagree with your point, but given the history of Merlin marketing, I feel that, at least initially, they would want to go down the "The World's first Minecraft Land" or similar route to give it more of a USP. That's not to say they could explore it being added to a second park a year...- James

Wicker Man - General Discussion
I like the ideas mentioned with a queueline/dots on the floor to manage the crowds better. At the bare minimum, I feel they need to apply better crowd control with a specific number of guests per preshow run-through. It's a fix that costs nothing to implement, maybe a small cost of giving the...- James

I don't think two UK parks would take the same IP simply because of marketability. You would want one park with a unique IP. Depending on the scale of a Minecraft-themed area, I think they would spread out biome themes between different rides/parts of an area.- James

Fireworks 2024
I support organised displays that run for 2 or 3 nights over residential areas where the public will be using fireworks for weeks on end. I would support more restrictions on the public use of fireworks over eradicating organised displays. That's another topic for debate, though.- James

Wicker Man - General Discussion
Wicker Man is great at night. It rides entirely differently. I wish they would find a suitable capacity limit for the preshow. On my visit the other week, they were cramming people in that room to the point where it was very uncomfortable in there, and when the doors opened into the station, it...- James

Fireworks 2024
A 'behind the scenes' blog was posted on the Towers website yesterday. There is nothing of huge note, but there are a few fun facts in there, and it sounds like this year's show may be more heavily story-based...- James

Galactica's Future
Even if it's done lazily, it would be nice to finally see a fully themed, coherent area for the first time in ages. Hopefully it's something they can aim for in future projects. I've never liked Merlin's approach to having one new-themed ride that clashes with everything around it.- James

Obscure UK Parks
I'm so sad to hear that Flambards has closed. I visited here a lot during my childhood holidays in Cornwall, the last time in 2021 (to see all of the exhibition stuff). It's always had a fond place in my heart. I really hope they can find a way to preserve the Victorian Village and Blitz...- James

Hex [2024 Refurb]: General Discussion
They should have split the indoor queue into two: one side regular queue, and the other a FT/RAP combined queue. I'm not a fan of the new batching outdoors. On off-peak/quieter days, I would guess they simply won't bother with the merge point at all. At the moment, it seems like more work with...- James

Ride Access Pass and Disabled Access - 2024 Discussion
They were limiting Fastrack/RAP at merge points regardless of the yellow/red limit. Merge hosts were instructed by their supervisors/managers to limit the number of RAP/Fastrack guests they let through, as to not detriment to the main queues and to ensure all queue lines moved at some pace. This...- James

2024: General Discussion
I wasn't sure where to post this. During my visit last week, I discovered that if you're a Blue Light cardholder, you get 10% off food, drinks, and retail across the resort. We didn't find out about this until our second day at the park when chatting to the staff member in the ATH shop. If you...- James
