Roughest Coasters
For the reasons of being a rattler, that's actually my favourite ride of all time.- micksalt

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
I love how since the Smiler incident, stops on the monorail and Air now make it into the top 10 read stories: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-33357478 That's akin to me reporting everytime I clip my toenails, not really news. Article is very confused, the two rides...- micksalt

Inexpensive Improvements
Urgh, motion seconded! I used to love the sneak preview you got of the park whilst riding the monorail.- micksalt

Didn't like the name either. When they were coming out with names like 'Nemesis' and 'Oblivion' I always thought 'The Smiler' was a bit weak. Then again, not too chuffed about 'Rita' either, even though it's a hat-tip to being a Rollercoaster InTamin Accelerator.- micksalt

Most Missed Rides
I don't disagree, it does look nice, but it's not how I remember it. The yellow corkscrew element appeared in a lot of Alton's promotional literature. Maybe I'm just getting old, and grumpy?- micksalt

Most Missed Rides
On the subject of the Corkscrew, does anyone else feel it's very wrong that the track colour of the Corkscrew inversions at the main entrance is purple, not yellow? If they'd have inverted the colours and made the track gold and the supports purple, I'd have been happy.- micksalt

Which ride will be removed next? (Poll reset 20.06.2017)
I don't like the shower after the main drop. The whole point of a water ride is the element of chance of getting wet. To just drizzle a shower head on you at the end of the ride seems lazy, I swear the main drop used to get you a lot wetter in the past.- micksalt

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
To be honest, the Mirror started all this, and they publish stories like: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/disturbing-moment-woman-secretly-takes-5864051?ICID=FB_mirror_main I rest my case.- micksalt

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
The fact that Air reopened half an hour after the metal clip incident tells me it was nothing to do with the ride. How convenient that the only photo of it is grainy. In daylight, modern camera phones wouldn't take such a bad photo, I suspect that the Mirror have blurred the image on purpose to...- micksalt

Oh Dear Lord, now I have friends discussing another 'crash' on a rollercoaster at Alton Towers, no doubt linked to the Octonauts evacuation story.- micksalt

The Flume, looks outdated, looks knackered and is knackered judging by the number of leaks. Replace it with something like Stormforce 10.- micksalt

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
I thought the lady on the second row was the one that took a taxi home, and only later realised that she was more seriously injured than she thought and checked herself into hospital and found to have internal bleeding, including clots on her liver. It happens, I know someone who was involved in...- micksalt

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
They're not going to change the lift hill mechanism, anything that will provide additional kinetic energy on top of the potential energy will be too much of a design departure. I doubt that the stalling issue will feature in the required improvements of the prohibition notice, it'll focus on the...- micksalt

2017/18: SW8 Speculation
Multi-train works, if Sonic Spinball can work without incident with the number of carts they have, then there's no reason for SW8 to have to go single-train. What happened on the Smiler is ridiculously rare, and as a result of the incident, will become rarer still. If SW8 is indeed a Woody...- micksalt

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
Disagree on this point, I had to give up donating because every time I did, I was struck down with severe flu-like symptoms, but I agree with your sentiment. However, I'm still on the organ donor register so if anyone finds my car upside down in a hedge and I'm on the cusp of death, please keep...- micksalt

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
If I were to take a wild stab in the dark, I'd suspect that 11 minute delay in calling the emergency services is the root cause of the park being closed for three days now. This would affect procedures for all rides, and thus will require retraining. Of course, it's not that simple either...- micksalt

Although I enjoyed Corkscrew, the Beast and the Black Hole more than the Haunted House, all three of them were heading to natural retirement. Haunted House was ruined before its time.- micksalt

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
I disagree, if the extra sensor was a presence detector in the batwing element, hard-wired to a braking system just beyond the lift hill crest (or to a very short chain section at the crest), and beyond the control of even the engineer's override key, this wouldn't happen. There would be no...- micksalt
