What music and why
For me it has to be Hex Something about that music just sends a shiver down my spine whenever I hear it. The music is timeless and it's hard to believe that it was created specifically for the ride, and not an old piece of music that was borrowed- DaveW

Talbot Street Tuesday/Thursday (Picture Heavy)
Re: Talbot Street Tuesday (Picture Heavy) Really interesting to see those mood boards, you can clearly see how it evolved into Sub-Terra, as for the pervious plans for the black hole site, in the dying days of Tussauds there were always rumours of them squeezing a euro fighter in there but it...- DaveW

What reminds you of Alton Towers?
I have a very distinct memory from when I was in uni just after the corkscrewed was scrapped. They we building a new building on campus and the machine they were using to bore into the ground to lay the foundations made a sound that was distressingly similar to the corkscrews lift hill. For...- DaveW

Talbot Street Tuesday/Thursday (Picture Heavy)
Re: Talbot Street Tuesday (Picture Heavy) Looking at those image you could almost be forgiven for thinking that had been drawn after X Sector had been built! The similarities between the concept and the finished product are startling!- DaveW

Health and Safety Gone Mad?
First I don't recall saying anyone deserved to die? I'd thank you to refrain from trying to put words in my mouth. All I am saying is companies and their staff should not have to spend they days worried that one persons stupidity or carelessness could cost them their job. Or the company a lot...- DaveW

Health and Safety Gone Mad?
Thing is the human race what's got this far without the need for such excessive nanny state mentality. In years gone by a lot of the situations where people are claiming damages would of been unheard of. At the end of the day evolution of down to survival of the fittest. If you haven't got...- DaveW

Health and Safety Gone Mad?
I'd of thought that was obvious! Just put an even bigger cage up around the launch itself! :-p H&S has its place and in some situations it is needed. The Rita situation for example. If the powers that be aren't happy with the safe guards then so be it, as if the cable were to snap again and...- DaveW

Mutiny Bay Pirate Show - The Kidnap of Lady Victoria Sponge
I actually LOVED the show when I saw it at the weekend. Over the years I've not been overly fond of the pirate show, it has had it's moment but its never really grabbed me, the introduction of Sir Edward England was a high point, but this year really raised the bar. The humor in the show...- DaveW

New mini-show: Invisible Band
I think it speaks volumes that within moments of the show starting kids were joining in with it and they actors played along with it and it gave the show a proper family feel. The buzz it created in the court yard was fantastic, it's just what the park needs to move the entertainment department...- DaveW

Thorpe Park - Temporary shipping container hotel to be built - The Crashpad
While I've only seen a couple of photos of this hotel so far I can see its clearly an effort to cut costs later on, When they FINALY build their real hotel they will already have a site office for the construction workers sorted. As far as I can see that's the only explanation.- DaveW

Alton's Maps designs, which is the best?
I'm torn between the 94-97 maps and the 08-10 ones The 94-97 maps always bring back memories of going there as a child as that was the map I grew up with. So it was MY map. While the 08-10 maps are probably the most usable, as they show a fairly accurate representation of the park, routes...- DaveW

2013 park map
I think once we see the finished glossy park map that may change. Every year they release the map in the sun I always think it looks dull and lacks colour but the real thing is usual a little brighter.- DaveW

2013 park map
Personally a bit let down by the new map. Should of gone for a totally fresh look as opposed to a slight revamp of the previously one. To me the smiler feels crammed into the corner as an after thought. And poor oblivion is almost totally obscured! Which is a bit odd seeing as its one of the...- DaveW

Talbot Street Tuesday/Thursday (Picture Heavy)
Re: Talbot Street Tuesday (Picture Heavy) In the words of the great man him self.... WOW! Some really interesting bit in there, and nice to hear some of the ideas that never quite made it to the final attractions. Also nice to see the ghost from electric bills corridor working there briefly...- DaveW

Ex Alton Towers theming
Not sure if this is lost theming or just recycled, but the Egg in the Ug Land hole on the extraordinary golf, is that a replica or is that one original egg? Would be nice to think its the original really, but I dunno, anyone have any evidence regarding this?- DaveW
