Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
I would say that everything I've posted off Associated Press and other news agencies has been far more factual and unsensationalist - how the media outlets (ie TV news and the papers) than choose to spin that information, or how rigorously they check their sources (like 'Fred Bloggs who was in...- Kelpie

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
A few further bits off the Press Association etc from yesterday (5th June): ---- The park has tweeted that it will also be closed tomorrow. It's statement said it hoped to open in the next few days. The Health and Safety Executive says it has issued a Prohibition Notice on the Smiler ride...- Kelpie

And also, because they were clearly too busy taking photos & videos on their phones to think of using them for their intended purpose. >.> It is annoying me, the whole "it took 11 minutes to dial 999!" outrage, when the ride needs to be stopped, the first responders get there safely, assess the...- Kelpie

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
I don't know which parts they have reported and which they're waiting to further verify after receiving it from PA I suppose a tweet from the affected person is a little different. But yeah, it can seem rather 'youtube' commenty at times. On a different note, on a Girl Guide Leaders group I'm...- Kelpie

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
Unfortunately, it depends entirely on the nature of the crush injury. The impact can break a bone, the bone can sever an artery, loss of circulation as a result to the affected limb may result in that, for example. :( But I do agree, even without (hopefully) that outcome, such injuries may take...- Kelpie

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
Firstly shutting down the ride, evacuating other guests out of the area, getting the emergency services safely into the area, building the platform to reach the trains, securing the trains so they don't move so the emergency responders stay safe.... ...then there's assessing the injuries, who to...- Kelpie

Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015
That was a term I was hoping not to hear for those exact reasons of what it means. :( I know full well, from recent personal experience, that some such serious limb threatening crush injuries can be 'fixable' - but that's extreme luck, and talents of the absolute best specialist doctors and...- Kelpie

TS South: 29-31 May 2015
Two years ago (would have been from when we both last had MAP's) the 'bail' day was Thorpe, as Diogo and I would have joined the meet in the afternoon there - except everyone had already gone to Legoland. So we didn't. :/ I understand the reasons for changing plans when things aren't going well...- Kelpie

Diogo and I are free on the Sunday - we don't have MAPS though, but if anyone's planning a drink or meal before heading off home we can come and join you for the sosche! Just drop us a message by text or Facebook, we're only 25 mins from Thorpe, less to Beaconsfield! :)- Kelpie

Rollercoaster Restaurant: General Discussion
I'm a little dubious about this - execution of the FoodLoop and quality of food aside (I'm willing to be surprised on that!), with Tower's present opening hours I really don't see the point of building such a restaurant. The opening hours of the park are too short to make sitting down for an...- Kelpie

20% off your first house, plus a further £3,000 towards it*
heh, I find it amusing the northerners think gulls are a novelty in the south. I grew up a 10 min drive from Dover & Folkestone, our school field was home to flocks of them! A missing key point was the extra investment to the UK icecream industry with a £50K subsidy. The aim is to capitalise on...- Kelpie

Emerald Park (Formerly Tayto Park), Dublin: General Discussion
lol! ironically the only picture I have of the park at all is of my friends in a peddle boat... (really 'new' for 2014). According to my diary of the trip we mostly whored the waltzer, but I do remember going on a roller coaster as well. I can tell you it definitely wasn't a Big Apple though...- Kelpie
