Coaster Poll Round 1 Group 6
I feel quite lucky to have ticked off four of the six in this group, though none of my last rides could be called particularly recent. I voted for Stunt Fall and El Toro. I'd imagine those that have visited parks in the states would say Plohn's El Toro is not a patch on the Intamin one, and...- Cheese

Coaster Poll Round 1 Group 5
My top two here are Colorado Adventure and Jetline. Colorado is the family coaster, proudly telling Big Thunder Mountain where to go and stick itself since 1996. Jetline is...frankly, not as good as Knightmare was on a purely track and train basis, but it's still great and is a much better...- Cheese

Little Changes: What would you do?
Maximise ride throughputs - Ensure that attractions have sufficient staff, return bag drops and single rider queues to use. Fastrack - Reduce allocations and increase prices for it, making the same return from fewer guests. If people want to cut main queues (which would move faster anyway if...- Cheese

Coaster Poll Round 1 Group 4
It has to be Alpina Blitz and Twister. Alpina Blitz is short but sweet, with stacks of airtime making up for the Mack rattle in the forceful first bend, and Twister packs loads of fun into an incredibly small space. So, the others: Lost Gravity - I wanted to love this, but the outside seats...- Cheese

Coaster Poll Round 1 Group 3
Lisebergbanan might not actually be the best coaster here, but it's a great ride and absolutely charming to boot, so it gets my first vote. My other vote goes to The Storm. Before you point out that it was inevitable with me being a massive fan of the Mack Megacoaster, I hadn't previously...- Cheese

Coaster Poll Round 1 Group 2
Again I've done 2/3rds of these, and again I agree with John (not purposely copying you, honest!). Shock - this looks like a big improvement on G-Force, and with that pace perhaps as intense as the truly face-rending Freischutz, but I'm not at all convinced by the layout. Formula - what's with...- Cheese

Coaster Poll Round 1 Group 1
I can tick off 4 out of the 6 in this set (missing Juvelen and Junker). John has basically summed up my thoughts. SM:M2 is a ride I've really liked from my first ride, and Juvelen looks like loads of fun. The other thrill coasters here aren't great examples of their types. Swarm should be half...- Cheese

I'm not very clued up on flight simulation, so bear with me, but if you've been using FSX it might be worth considering Prepar3D. It's effectively a continuation of development of FSX, and although there's no consumer licence available, the academic licence is reasonably priced.- Cheese

And not a tear was shed. No, in all seriousness, G-Force is often said to be a bad ride, but I doubt there will be much outpouring of strong emotion on either side of the fence at this news. It was ugly, low throughput, short, uncomfortable and generally rather ponderous, but I can't think of...- Cheese

DCC isn't for everyone, but I love the possibilities it offers. Locos with on-board DCC sound decoders are particularly fun as long as the set of sounds is convincingly close to the real class. :) Steam locos in general aren't there yet, but most diesels sound OK. That Lego Hall is the best one...- Cheese

Best Drop Towers?
If we're specifically talking drop towers, I agree with John. Donjon de l’Extrême is the best I've encountered. Normally I find stand-up towers more concerning, but the height, open structure rather than concrete tower, exposed seating, late braking and sudden release from the top combine to...- Cheese

The "Look What I Made!" Topic.
Oh god, I stumbled into that trap didn't I? Well, not much, at least not that's finished. I can do the cutting, gluing, (electronics) soldering and bodging parts, but I've not got around to learning to paint stuff yet or making the fancy stuff like brass kits. Here's one I've been thinking of...- Cheese

Gauge discussions are always a good way to get a group of die-hard railway modellers foaming at the mouth. Some people overcome the inaccuracy of OO gauge (1:76 / 4 mm: 1 ft) by using a wider, more accurate gauge and re-wheeling ready to run models or building their own chassis; P4 gauge is the...- Cheese

TS Summer Spectacular @ BPB: Saturday, 25th August 2018
As usual, it should be pointed out that TS meets consist of a group of people with varying interests in parks or rides, and an equal interest in drinking is not required to have a good time with good company. Nonetheless, as the comments above have alluded to, TS Pleasure Beach late close meets...- Cheese

I would hazard a guess that it's just down to them finding that the return on investment is significantly better when they buy a Zamperla kids' flat for The-Reverend-Awdry-Must-Be-Spinning-In-His-Grave Land than when they buy a ride for the rest of the park, even with presumably having to send a...- Cheese

Colossus' trains are hopeless, and rattle as many Intamin trains seem to. You can however keep your head out of the way of harm pretty easily by keeping it forward. I'm really not a fan of those inline rolls, and would much prefer a few corners with rolls in between, but as long as you ride with...- Cheese

2019: Scandinavia & Snorri Touren
Noooooo! The 'Rotherham Shopping Centre' passage! In all seriousness, this is pretty awful. I was never much of a Batavia fan, but many people were, and thinking about how many hours must have gone into its initial construction and all the tinkering that's been done to it since makes its loss a...- Cheese
