    Oakwood Discussion

Disgusting little block in the miniature railway station by the car park aside, I can't remember what any of the toilets at Oakwood were like to start with. I presume my brain has done its best to block out some bad memories.

Skyline Park - New for 2016: Maurer Monorail

It's supposedly going to be the fastest motorcycle coaster IN THE WORLD, you'll be able to control the speed of your ca...um, bike, and this year it's only going to run one vehicle (it'll be on four next year). Mad, quite frankly.

    Chessington World of Adventures Resort

My preference of the park's hotels would be the original, as unless that's been attacked with nasty printed vinyls too it looks stylish as opposed to cheap. Aztecs has been 'themed' in an extremely half-posteriored manner. The difficulty for Chessington is surely that, although focusing on the...

    Energylandia (Poland): General Discussion

I'm pleased that a park has finally bought a coaster of this type after Vekoma have been showing it off for a few years. This looks like the ride system they should have had ten years ago. The layout seems a bit basic, but it's understandable if they're treading carefully with the prototype and...

    Talbot Street Video Archive

OK, that may be a promotional video designed to show the park at its best, but I find it deeply saddening that even by the time of my first visit in 2007 the park was a world away from that. If those standards and those of Tussauds in the '90s had been kept going through to now the place could...

Thorpe Park 2017: DBGT: Rise of The Demon

Why shouldn't people moan now? Advertising an opening date in the first place was unwise with a project like this. Also, call me cynical, but with the way life usually goes aboard the good ship Merlin I'm expecting to moan anyway when it is open and I've been on it. If Thorpe can prove me wrong...

    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

I'd argue that there's a difference between riding defensively, which is what's necessary on something like Tedious Baco and definitely isn't fun, and going on a coaster that isn't uncomfortable per se but which you don't just sit and ride passively. Yes, I have been going to Thorpe for long...

    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Colossus isn't that rough. You do however have to ride with it, keeping your head forward and bracing properly when necessary. It's half a good ride if you get it right. Selecting the first of a car's two rows is usually a good idea too. The issue for me with Saw is that it's unbelievably...

Toverland, Efteling and Phantasialand first trip Advice/Tips

Personally I thought Dwervelwind was an absolute delight and even that off the shelf layout would fit in nicely at Towers as a replacement for Spinball, though perhaps a different layout designed for a throughput higher than 900 per hour might be better there. It's not really comparable to Mir...

    Galactica: General Discussion

I've not been on it much this year and I can't be bothered with the headsets now either. I wasn't a fan of Air before anyway, but given the choice between a dull conventional coaster and a dull gimmick with a hobbled throughput, I'll take the former.

Toverland, Efteling and Phantasialand first trip Advice/Tips

That sounds just like how I found it. I'd usually define a rough ride as one that knocks you about, whereas Troy just rattled my head instead of tracking erratically.

    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Remember that each arm has 5 seats. Unless groups of 2 and 3 can be seated together seats go empty or groups have to be split up. It's slightly surprising that Mondial haven't made a Top Scan XL park model with 6 per arm, and that Zierer went for 5 per arm on the Star Shape too.

Toverland, Efteling and Phantasialand first trip Advice/Tips

I'm glad you enjoyed Toverland. I went for the first time last year on a quiet but swelteringly hot day and had a lovely time. Troy was...I'd hesitate to say rough, but certainly prone to serious vibration in places when I was there, especially on the first sweeping left hand bend, so repeat...

    2018: Wicker Man - Pre-Opening Discussion

I must admit I wasn't clued up on which names RMC used for which style of track, their exact construction, and which type Outlaw Run has. Having checked their website, they say that the metal section on Topper Track replaces what would normally be the top two layers of the wooden stack, so a...

    2018: Wicker Man - Pre-Opening Discussion

Oops, I'd forgotten that Lightning Rod is the hybrid type of RMC instead of their higher wood content model! In that case yes, Towers would be very likely to advertise it as the world's first.

    2018: Wicker Man - Pre-Opening Discussion

There's surely no way that Merlin would agree to allocate Towers a budget for a bog standard GCI woodie. 'Europe's first launched wooden coaster' seems quite likely to be what Marketing will be spamming the press with as the ride takes shape, I'd say, at least based on what we can see so far...

    2018: Wicker Man - Pre-Opening Discussion

Like many of you, I feel like I should be delighted to hear that a GCI woodie is coming to Towers. Alas, I am not. I'm a big fan of Wodan, so I know that a short ride can be mind blowing, but I'd hoped that when a woodie eventually appeared at Towers it would be significantly more substantial...

    Rollercoaster Restaurant: General Discussion

On opening night we were asked whether we'd be drinking, so I presume they can set the menu to not show alcohol or at least have some way of recording which tables have underage guests seated.

Mini Meet Drayton Manor, Saturday 4th June

Despite its lack of outstanding attractions, Drayton Manor is a park that has consistently given TowersStreet groups good days out, and I usually like to have a trip there around this time of year. Not a lot changes from year to year, though as you may be aware The Haunting (in previous years a...
