Scarefest 2025
Your original point was "they’d rather do anything than think about improving the theme parks they already have." Not sure how TripAdvisor is a metric of this? Would probably get much better reviews by cutting the food prices by a third but that doesn't really "improve the park" just lower the...- jon81uk

Although I broadly agree, the wait time will be an issue we still need to have the jobs available for people to take them. If there is an excess of work available that people already holding the right to work aren’t taking up then immigrants are a good option.- jon81uk

My guess is if it externally hosted then it is that site’s problem if it is an issue. TS aren’t then hosting problematic content, just linking to it and the link can easily be removed.- jon81uk

Yes the first one didn't work (it seems Imgur don't like direct linking) which is why I edited and added the Imgur post and the second image hotlink as an example too. Before the forum allowed uploading of images I used to use this a few times.- jon81uk

Use insert image on the tool bar and you can link to images. Imgur doesn't like embed linking to images though, so use this link From: https://imgur.com/RxAmtm3 For sites that will allow hotlinking it works though, such as this image from a BBC News story.- jon81uk

I don't think we are accomodating everyone? Given per head we take the seventeenth largest intake compared to other EU countries. "Compared with other European countries, the UK received the fifth largest number of asylum seekers in 2024 (108,138) and the seventeenth largest intake when...- jon81uk

Pakistan had a war earlier this year which likely is driving people to come here, especially as they probably already have family here who likely settled in the UK 50 years ago. They are generally coming on a visa and then claiming asylum after. But again given the number of migrants that came...- jon81uk

Do you have proof we are giving asylum to those from "safe" countries? On what measure are we a soft touch? Can you provide a comparison with other countries to prove we are softer?- jon81uk

Because the sort of people who would take the bounty would actually be trying to murder them not just leave them in France, they would destroy the boat and watch the occupants drown.- jon81uk

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
Fewer people buy alcohol-free drinks so less economy of scale, a lot of people having non-alcoholic will just have Diet Coke etc. I don't see the beer producers dropping the price of NA beer down to similar prices to soft drinks. Also the cost of the staff to pour the drink, the heating...- jon81uk

£7.50 is fairly normal in London, now even in a paper cup. So I assume Alton Towers expects the same “tourist” prices. I agree that £4.50 isn’t a great price for a pasty either!- jon81uk

It’s the Towers Street Instagram account. A pint of beer (maybe cider) and a pie (but pictured is a pasty) is £12 from the Courtyard bar. Is Facebook working better? https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BHPRcGNAo/- jon81uk

That’s not the point though. I’d be happy if it was 100% self-ordering and the tablet scans the annual pass. Or 100% staff ordered for those who want it or need it for the discounts. But this weird mix isn’t helping passholders.- jon81uk

Its not even all E-ticket really, Frozen is probably a D-ticket ride really. But other than DLP Adventure Studios, there aren't any other parks doing this? Its the Harry Potter effect. Those lands featured shopping and dining as core aspects so now all theme park lands need to.- jon81uk
