Also a lot of people fly in and out at the weekend, or change hotels/resorts. So I think weekends have always been a bit quieter in the Florida theme parks as they are the arrival/departure days.

WDW monorail is much higher capacity. AT needs more frequent trains to manage the capacity required so don’t think manual gates would work.
