Are you sure Merlin pay better? Pretty sure Aramark don’t which is a good chunk of the staff at the parks.- jon81uk

$17 USD is about £12.50 GBP which isn't far off UK minimum wage anyway. Also wages in the USA aren't always comparable due to the way their taxes, benefits and healthcare work. Additionally there is a lot of competition for workers in the Orlando parks, Disney, Universal, Seaworld, Legoland...- jon81uk

Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion
The old ticket sheets at BPB were comparable in price to most other theme parks, you would get so many of each ride tier for about £25 I think, plus a free admission to one of the three shows. It didn't feel much any more expensive that Alton Towers did back in 2001.- jon81uk

Universal Orlando (Studios/IOA) : General Discussion
The American tickets can be confusing, but remember they don't have access to the 14 day passes offered in the UK. Because in the US they don't get as much annual leave and take shorter trips that is why there are more varieties of tickets for 1-4 days with and without park-to-park admission...- jon81uk

UK Politics General Discussion
For every £1 you earn above £100,000 you lose 50 pence of your tax-free personal allowance, this leads to some people having a marginal tax rate of 60% on earnings of £100k to £120k. This article seems to discuss it OK https://barnesroffe.com/insights/are-you-paying-the-62-tax-rate/ Basically...- jon81uk

Then those are the UK tickets. Undercover Tourist only offer the USA tickets.- jon81uk

Universal Orlando (Studios/IOA) : General Discussion
Do you mean the Universal USA site, or the UK one? If you can see the USA site then you could just buy there instead of using Undercover Tourist anyway. But often the USA Universal site won't load from the UK.- jon81uk

Universal Orlando (Studios/IOA) : General Discussion
Nope, I selected Setember 2026, click on the link in my previous post and check for yourself. Undercover Tourist don't appear to currently offer tickets with more than one day at Epic Universe. Maybe that is a UK only thing right now?- jon81uk

Universal Orlando (Studios/IOA) : General Discussion
Volcano Bay is closing from October 2026 which is likely why you can't see the four park ticket. If you want other options you will need to buy the US tickets from a reseller such as https://www.undercovertourist.com/orlando/universal-orlando-resort/, but its not always significantly cheaper...- jon81uk

[🌎 Universal GB] Planning, Transport and Infrastructure
I’ve got zero memory of ever noticing it! But overall it just didn’t feel like a place I would go as a local, a small number of overpriced restaurants, a Disney store and not much else. At least Disney Springs has a full mall too and CityWalk feels like a better selection of restaurants.- jon81uk

We don’t know what CityWalk is going to offer yet. It might not be designed to attract that many extra people and could just be a few restaurants for on-site guests. Think about places like Europa Park and Disneyland Paris, there isn’t anything really for locals, Disneyland Paris just really...- jon81uk

A lot of people don’t do a full park day and the HHN, they arrive just off the separate ticket evening event. Also if you do have a day ticket then better to stay in the park for the transition into HHN and then you are closer to queue lines when they open.- jon81uk

Busch Gardens Tampa: General Discussion
Oh yeah if you haven't been since 2013 then definitely go for Iron Gwazi. We easily got lots of re-rides in back in 2022. We've got one week at Universal and one week at Disney. Planning that Volcano Bay will likely be our only water park as Blizzard Beach will be closed. So for the Uni week...- jon81uk

Busch Gardens Tampa: General Discussion
We are almost certainly doing the same on our trip this November. Doesn't feel like there is much new at Busch since we went in 2022 and an extra Epic day makes more sense. We likely will still do Seaworld for the surf coaster.- jon81uk

They don't really need option 3 right now. Seaworld has enough coasters but needs some other things to do.- jon81uk

I think we will get some days with longer hours, but I would expect the core hours of the park might be 10am to 6pm as it is in Florida outside of peak periods.- jon81uk

Very few will actually want to live right next to a theme park. Lots of traffic and noise issues, look at the case of the Ropers v Alton Towers.- jon81uk

It wasn't reallyt a documentary, more a sales pitch. But also Disney had other shows like the True Life Adventures that inspired Adventureland and coming out of the 1950s Cowboy films were everywhere (although not sure what Disney actually made in that genre) so Frontierland was heavily...- jon81uk

I think this is the issue. Politicians want to say they aren't raising taxes, but also spending money on things like the NHS. When actually we need to raise taxes.- jon81uk
