Drayton Manor Park - Splash Canyon Incident
bits from the newswires: 09/05/17, 18:20 PA news A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said crews arrived on the scene and discovered a girl with serious injuries who had been rescued from the water by park staff. The spokesman added: "Ambulance staff administered advanced life support...- Kelpie

Drayton Manor Park - Splash Canyon Incident
If they were going to bring up past incidents at other parks at all then they should have mentioned M&D's as most recent UK incident, or Australia if going for ride type. The only commonality this and Smiler share is the county the parks are located in. It's not the same kind of ride involved...- Kelpie

Drayton Manor Park - Splash Canyon Incident
It could be a case of less 'standing being silly' and more (as we've all done) shifting to duck a wave and perhaps very unluckily losing balance, tripping, falling... All H&S is a balance of need to reduce risk without significant negative impact to the operation of the ride - yes, some kind...- Kelpie

Drayton Manor Park - Splash Canyon Incident
Thorpe Park are stating Rumba Rapids will not be open tomorrow - clearly for the same reasons as Alton, awaiting whether it's a ride/design/operations fault that caused the incident. I expect Legoland will do the same on Thursday if necessary. (or whether it's a guest failing to follow safety...- Kelpie

Drayton Manor Park - Splash Canyon Incident
BBC reporting that 11 yr old girl has been airlifted to hospital - I hope that this is positive news as air ambulances will not carry patients in an unstable condition (those are taken by road).- Kelpie

TS York Bank Holiday Weekend: 29th April - 1st May 2017
Not sure what all the plans are over the York weekend, but Diogo & I are def. aiming to head to the Railway Museum on the Sunday morning (we're not too bothered about trying for Jorvik). After that we'll see what the time is for wandering/visiting elsewhere. Ashlee has a good list of pubs to...- Kelpie

The Sinking Ship: (Un)Love Letters to Merlin
Just as a point, the only other UK theme park I've visited this year is Paulton's and it impressed me no end. As someone pointed out, at the moment they're a park filled with potential and Alton Towers is at it's maximum for expansion so that does help. But it's not simply a case of giving them...- Kelpie

The Sinking Ship: (Un)Love Letters to Merlin
But this isn't just about where Towers has gone wrong. This is about the Merlin group and their approach as a whole to running their theme parks. I haven't got the experience of visiting Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington WOA or LegoLand as a child (though I can claim Parc Asterix and DLP)...- Kelpie

TS Fireworks/End of Season: Sunday, 6th November 2016
Er, nope you didn't, just talked about the Sunday. ;) Hence the question. It's not like we're going back to Towers anytime soon after this, and clearly it will have to be booked in advance esp (as you said) the Saturday tends to be 'rammed' on park and there's no way it wont end up with mega queues.- Kelpie

2016: The Smiler Reopening
was looking on the newswires for info about M&D's... no luck on that front, however, did spot this among the search results of what significant moments are coming up in the next few months: Monday September 26 1000 STAFFORD: Sentencing hearing for Alton Towers Smiler ride prosecution. Anything Radioactive Topic
Ahahaha, well that was an entertaining half hour. Where do I start? Now in fairness it's been a while since I've been part of an evac rehearsal, and never an 'event of all out nuclear war' scenario (something to look up). But assuming there would initially be as much attempt as possible for...- Kelpie
