Speedy is right, you can choose a specific train on an open return, it means you can catch any train but you will have a reserved seat on your specific one only. If you miss that train you can still use the ticket on another service.

I find its always worth buying an open return if the price difference isn't that much

My last ride on Valhalla was by far my worst. 4 inches of cold dirty water soaking my shoes and socks the moment I sat down, the absolute stench of the vacuum trying to remove the water. Legs bashed. Not great. Was my missus' first ride on it, safe to say she never wants to go back on

Last time I went on SRQ for Smiler I joined about half way up the stairs and was on within 15 mins, 90 min queue advertised. Very much pot luck on groupings in main queue, though.
