    2025: General Discussion

It is amazing how many experts in the inner workings of Merlin and Alton Towers have piped up in this thread....... @Blackrock, specifically, I will call you out because your comments clearly show, you are an absolute expert in the subject. This is not Disney, we are not in Fantasy Land or...

    Monorail Refurbishment

I agree, we manage it on railways just fine. Unfortunately, insurance company's think differently. Although, understandable, seeing as common sense can go out the window when some people visit themeparks. I bet insurance premiums would be much higher or an outright refusal to insure if they...

    Monorail Refurbishment

Doors would be better because there wont be room to open the airgates train side due to the clearance with the trains I do not think. The other option would be to open them towards the guests, but with a bay full of guests it would cause more problems as people stand there seemingly not...

    Monorail Refurbishment

It would not be difficult to fit a compressor to each station as part of the airgate upgrade. That would not be what is stopping them. Besides many systems including some types of airgates can operate on different methods other than pneumatics.

    Monorail Refurbishment

It is not the operating system that is the main source of the issues with capacity. The issue is lack of air gates in the stations. The loading pens could previously be filled up before a train entered, meaning guests were ready to load as soon as the train entered the station. Now they do not...

I think I know who you mean, have no clue of his name but I vaguely remember someone matching that description.

    Ride Availability/Operations 2022-25

Could we not power Rita from the tears of disappointed families who have paid half of their years savings, to turn upto a park filled with technical delays and aggressively overpriced hot dogs? The idea is solid, there will be a huge amount of potential hydro power from the above. Seems like...

You can't be serious. This has to be a wind up?

Incidentally, that was the first ride which I followed the development too. I remember one of the security guards who used to work there around that time, Richard Kingstone, he went on to become the mayor of Tamworth.

    Drayton Manor Park

Yeah the animation was dogey, this was a UK budget park, trying to make animatronics in the UK, in the early 2000's. But the set pieces and all that were built really well and to a high standard I thought. I didnt think it fell apart quickly, (most of it is still standing today as an example)...

    Drayton Manor Park

It was. Everything you say is also true. But just because the theming was high quality (which it was farmer studuos out did themselves with that), does not mean or equal the ride itself being good. The ride itself was ****, but the theming, especially in it's opening yewr was really good and...

I rest my case. Right there, you've agreed with the point I was trying to get across.

    Drayton Manor Park

With all due respect, I don't care if you disagree. It was not my opinion. It is a subjective, provable fact. You can start by counting the bespoke pieces of theming in that queue line, then counting what is in the new areas. You will be surprised if that is your angle. I never said the rides...

    Drayton Manor Park

The majority is just painted wood. I am sorry have you actually seen the areas? Rather than blindly defending them. As I have said MANY times previously, there might be a few themed elements, but, they are very sparse and apart. Nothing like the sheer quantity of themeing they used to have on...

Sounds like it is the same **** they were shovelling out yeats ago. Nothing has improved then.

    Drayton Manor Park

Such as? The country leading themed attractions such as Storm Force 10, Pirate Adventure, Excalibur? They may have fell into dis repair now, but the theming used to be excellent at Drayton Manor. Admittedly, the quality did drop in later years of the Bryans. But when Drayton were in their prime...

    Drayton Manor Park

I am well aware of this, the same type of companies who should be and did previously do general theming around the park too. But they didn't, they did it on the cheap, which is why I dont have high hopes for any dark ride, which is going to cost alot.

    Drayton Manor Park

This is the thing with Drayton now, in all of the themed areas they have built under Loopings, there isnt really much "theming", in the traditional sense. A few minor bits and pieces but mostly just painted wood and lots of it. Not like the theming of old which would be lots and lots of custom...

    Drayton Manor Park

There is no room for a woodie in that area in the current setup. The area is quite small and blocked in on all sides. Even if they removed the coaster in the area, I doubt that will provide the space due the extremely small and thin footprint it has. There only hope would be going over the lake...

    TS Drayton75 Meet: Saturday, 5th July 2025

Interesting thoughts, I have to say I pretty much agree with all of them. While the park has improved on paper, it has fell short in other areas, big time.
