I think they did it in the back of the gardens as a summer thing once. Definitely they filled the gardens with stuff for some Christmas events, like dodgems.- jon81uk

Yep I think a lot of this is where the discussions around whehter Hydro etc were good investments as they were likely more than the park could afford.- jon81uk

Although currently only a saving of £3 on some days (£37+38) and no saving at all if you go on one of the £34 Fridays. I expect ticket prices will go up closer to the day though!- jon81uk

Yet Brexit is never able to solve that really. Yes it stopped the Polish and similar EU immigration, but leaving the EU won't make any difference to immigration from outside the EU. Farage spoke mainly about Romanians I think and people assumed it would stop everyone coming.- jon81uk

I know some people have said the Trail of the King's area is going away and the gorillas don't have a large enough enclosure, but I haven't seen mention of the wanyama and Zufari areas changing.- jon81uk

Do you have a link showing Chessington aren’t engaging in breeding programs? As far as I knew they are linked with other zoos for that sort of purpose.- jon81uk

Surveys done by AT have indicated the vast majority of people go for the night rides. But also its been that way for around ten years I think where the high-scares are paid for mazes. This is due to a combination of things. The mazes being low capacity so when they were free the queue was hours...- jon81uk

Do we know with certainty that a scare zone isn't returning? Text on the website states "Take a returning fan favourite, more terrifying than ever! And prepare for two all-new scare experiences for 2025, dare to enter… if you think you can escape." But the booking states "Altonville Mine Tours...- jon81uk

What is Merlin Tussards and Merlin Lego? Merlin Entertainments has previously been owned by Blackstone, who then bought ownership of the Legoland parks and Kirkbi got a share in Merlin. Then Merlin merged with Tussauds Group so Dubai Investment Capital got a stake as they were the previous...- jon81uk

We need both, the west coast mainline needs the capacity so the additional tracks from London to Birmingham and up to Manchester is needed. But also east-west rail is much needed too. I say stop spending on motorways and invest more in trains. Maintain local roads better but for city to city...- jon81uk

Tidal Wave at Thorpe opened two years before Hydro though. So wasn't that unique really (I know technically different manufacturers but it is visually the exact same ride). I get what you mean though and yes Speed being the first Eurofighter should have been a big deal but Oblivion did the...- jon81uk

I don't think we give more than any other country, looks very similar to what France offers in terms of a living allowance. Thats still a long-term thing as need to build them first. All the short-term ideas (remeber the housing them on a boat one) have gone wrong. Better long-term plan is to...- jon81uk

Other than the portal what theming elements add to the experiance? There is a queue line photo point no longer used. plywood enclosure over the bridge that is falling apart. Its not so much that Air had better theming, its just that the whole thing felt more cohesive. Whereas now we have some...- jon81uk

HS2 could have been cheaper if they had left it out in the open instead of the NIMBYs wanting it covered and in tunnels to protect the views. They could have cut the number of tunnels anyway and just run at ground level in some sections. The rise in the number of crossings is due to the better...- jon81uk

I only ever visited Oakwood in the 90s, so before Hydro. But the things that stood out to me were the assault courses and zip wires, the toboggans and that sort of thing. As a kid the low-fi exploration stuff was way better than the thrills anyway!- jon81uk

Some of the things that caused the issues pre-date Aspro. Hydro was a terrible investment and Speed wasn't great. They tried to make it too much of a thrill park whereas several smaller rides and things would have been better investments than a couple of massive ones. Yes Aspro didn't invest...- jon81uk

They are. Merlin just signed a deal to sponsor Sky Cinema. But I don’t actually think brand awareness is an issue, most people know the Merlin attractions exist but so many years with discounts and voucher means the perception is they aren’t worth more than £30 for a day out when in reality the...- jon81uk
