Universal Epic Universe - New Florida Theme Park
I've seen rumour and discussion in the past that had Pokemon as a Kidzone replacement, but that has now gone to Dreamworks. Or Pokemon as a Simpsons replacement or an expansion into the space between Simpsons and Men in Black, or in IoA replacing the last of Lost Continent, or into Epic. My...- jon81uk

2026: General Discussion
But I think the expectation of what a Christmas at Alton Towers with a hotel stay etc is very different to an event at Adventure Island or BPB. I think that's where a lot of the recent poor scores come from you go to Alton or Legoland with a level of expectation and then if the product doesn't...- jon81uk

The Morality and Politics Surrounding Visiting Specific Theme Parks
I have two trips to the US coming up but barely staying there as a cruise is the major part of the trip. I am considering if I want to visit the USA further. We got Global Entry to avoid immigration queues and the interview part of that was not a great welcome in September 2025, I would have...- jon81uk

2026: General Discussion
Alton Towers resort is 3.8/5 on TripAdvisor, which reflects similar complaints on queue times and the like. Legoland Windsor is only on 3.2 though, largely from a terrible Christmas offering. Chessington also 3.2, Thorpe a little better at 3.7. Drayton Manor is 3.9, Blackpool Pleasure Beach...- jon81uk

2026: General Discussion
I don't think this is a completly nothing season, there is the Bluey coaster. But yes hopefully they do have a big plan for 2027 or 28. Also TLC originally was just a plan to tidy-up and restore run-down things in the first year or two, it was later on when it got hijacked as an excuse for...- jon81uk

Redevelopment of Katanga Canyon
As much as I think the park boudary expanding so we add a ride rather than replacing would be a good thing, where would the coaches go? Maybe the bit closer to the main car parks could get resurfaced and used, but on some days there are a significant number of coaches at AT. Personally I think...- jon81uk

The Traitors (WARNING: Potential spoilers!)
Oh but the drama of people going nuclear against Rachel and then self-eliminating is fantastic. For two people to have done a similar thing is making this good TV.- jon81uk

What is your roast dinner meat of choice?
Chicken if I'm cooking usually because its the cheapest option and fairly easy to cook and sort. But if I'm out then I'll often get beef.- jon81uk

Redevelopment of Katanga Canyon
But also they had Submission, Enterprise, Blade, Twirling Toadstool in the past and did manage to staff and open them all in addition to the current rides.- jon81uk

Redevelopment of Katanga Canyon
There are already four or five empty spaces where flat rides could go, I'd rather they used those first before removing more attractions.- jon81uk

Paultons Park: General Discussion
Mead Hall, part of How to Train your Dragon Land at Epic Universe mainly features Scandinavian food like Swedish meatballs and salmon as well as other BBQ style dishes like big sausages, so this would be a good start https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/gb/things-to-do/dining/mead-hall/menu.html- jon81uk

Epic Universe has larger free lockers than the other parks, they are square rather than long, I got a standard rucksack in. The changable UK weather might be an issue as you need more layers, but I had a cold week in Orlando so was carrying a hoody and stuff around (hence the rucksack). At...- jon81uk

Escape from Gringotts is not a new ride. Universal have learnt from this and for Velocicoaster and all rides at Epic Universe they have large double sided locker areas towards the end of the queue. Epic also uses face recognition so you don't need to use the barcode. Hagrid's although a new...- jon81uk

Redevelopment of Katanga Canyon
I do think it would be a mistake to remove the rapids. Yes there are concerns about this style of ride following what happened at Drayton Manor but its still a good family ride, there aren't many of them in the UK and Alton Towers is a good version. Plenty of other spaces in the park that could...- jon81uk

I disagree that the lockers harm the experience. At Epic Universe they improved it, before getting to the ride platform there is a secure location to store your belongings for free, no faffing about crossing the platform to put things on a shelf or similar.- jon81uk

The issue is more around the fact minimum wage has increased far quicker than general wages. Therefore people that should be receiving significantly more than the minimum, aren't.- jon81uk

2026: General Discussion
I think it’s more that the pay seems low for a role with managerial responsibility. Yes nurses should be paid to reflect the skill and learning of their work but the issue here is that people being put in charge of other people are not significantly better paid than those they have to manage...- jon81uk

Depends if the residents have moved out yet. I expect just as likely to see earthworks on the rest of the site, once all the security & safety hoarding is done- jon81uk
