2026: General Discussion
To be fair to these parks they are in easier to reach locations, and in Draytons cost require significantly less staff. Blackpool is also an area lacking much other employment opportunities isn't it while Staffordshire has other options that have been discussed before. Without risking to turn...- JAperson

2026: General Discussion
I understand this, and that you know your stuff with regards to business finances, what I am unsure of is if the Government can really do anything that's actually fair to employees or the country as a whole that helps this. I certainly don't think reducing minimum wage is remotely fair, or even...- JAperson

SeaWorld Orlando: General Discussion
Doesn't SeaWorld, United Parks or whatever they are called now, own Sesame Street only theme parks? I wonder what happens to those, although this is slightly off topic so I will leave it there.- JAperson

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
Well isn't this basically how Merlin/Tussauds used to work with minimal issue's? Makes you wonder why they didn't just bring in major brands again at Towers.- JAperson

Thorpe Park: General Discussion
MMM might have put some basic ideas together I suppose, as I imagine they have with lots of sites of current attractions, but I doubt anything would be significantly far along at this stage, but maybe I'm wrong. You would hope so! I imagine whatever they will replace it with, will require a...- JAperson

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
Fair point, but I will say they are operating massively different operations, and actually have a simpler pass system, with fewer properties to manage. Also I think the contract and working arrangements between Merlin and Aramark clearly aren't functioning very well, and these could have been...- JAperson

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
It's almost like outsourcing catering in major theme park sites, with complex pass systems and discount options doesn't make a lot of sense....- JAperson

2026: General Discussion
Yes I think your correct on those. I think a blade replacement might be off the table for now due to Forbidden Valley having just had Toxicator and reborn, then again they might want to give that area more capacity with it being an entrance/exit for hotel guests. Submission/Enterprise...- JAperson

2026: General Discussion
I don't know which area's of the park currently have space for a flat, that wouldn't require planning permission? Maybe the bottom of x-sector, if the ride wasn't too tall? Either way I suspect next year will be very much a down year, and I wouldn't expect any new rides, although perhaps we...- JAperson

Thorpe Park: General Discussion
Thorpe is a former quarry isn't it? which I imagine the footers would be hellishly expensive, then again maybe I'm wrong. In terms of Rumba, it's obviously cost cutting and clearly a very last minute decision, although I do think it makes long term sense, I perhaps think Thorpe would have liked...- JAperson

Redevelopment of Katanga Canyon
I think Katanga Canyon retheme is perhaps something that should be on the radar but I'm not sure it should be the first area they do work in, I feel that Walliams world is first on the list of area's that desperately need a retheme, perhaps a total change, with some buildings being removed, and...- JAperson

What Next?
As much as I would love this, I think it's really not very marketable, and would cost a huge amount. Also I think whatever replaces the rapids needs to be family friendly. and a major Intamin launch probably wouldn't be that, although they do make more family friendly versions so maybe I'm wrong.- JAperson

[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved
They've basically bought a new B&M invert, which is a new ride, but I take your point, in that it's something they already had. Not really, they could have put something far more markatable there then, oh yes we've redone nemesis, the same thing you've been riding since the 90's, come visit...- JAperson

[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved
I think you have to consider Nemesis reborn a major investment, B&M inverts are not cheap, and they won't have saved much by keeping small sections of track on the lift and breakrun, with all the new theming and marketing I'm sure it cost similar to any other major investment they've done.- JAperson

They would keep it the same, to avoid removing everything around the ride, installing new supports and probably changing the hole itself, to allow clearances.- JAperson

Gardaland
It's likely few people had heard of those rides in Italy, and therefore it was just Merlin Magic Making having fun with the name. It works well and fits the theme perfectly, while being able to play homage to rides at there other parks, if you like it's a less hidden easter egg. At least that's...- JAperson

What Next?
I don't think Towers are not going to be involved in innovation, I just think as @Jb85 says, lots of things have already been done. I think we can see types of coasters not seen in the UK, or not seen in this country for a long time. Particularly things like B&M's surf coaster model for example...- JAperson

This is good, but the planning application does seem to be quite late, I don't even know if they'll get that approved before the scheduled opening.- JAperson

The Public Transport Thread
Yes GWR has started running this, and it's great for existing railways, and introducing new service on current lines (or extending/changing routes of current lines), however the cost to lay the tracks and get the signalling infrastructure for a mainline railway like this is very expensive, and...- JAperson

The Public Transport Thread
the idea of using a very light rail connection could be great, if they can make the economics work. If this technology works out well I can see if being a huge player in UK transport, and this is a potential great usage.- JAperson
