Paultons Park: General Discussion
The Roaring T-Rex at the Natural History Museum is permanent and been there at least 20-30 years, its a similar amount of movement to Paultons new one, but a bit jerky because of its age. Just got to watching the video, as discussed I think many of the other UK parks do jetwash and paint in the...- jon81uk

Paultons Park: General Discussion
Yes, this is where it needs to be clear if someone's opinion that it will be "the 2nd best coaster in the UK", which I think is unlikely, or in their own personal rankings it would be second best in the UK out of everything they have personally ridden. For example I personally don't like The...- jon81uk

Brean Theme Park
Out of curiosity i looked up Brean, as I'd sort of heard of Brean Sands but wasn't familiar and wow, looking at aerial images the whole town is just holiday chalet and static caravan villages! No wonder a theme park there is not doing well as those sort of holidays are losing favour.- jon81uk

Paultons Park: General Discussion
Do you think Drakon will be the 2nd or 3rd best coaster in the UK? Ahead of (in no particular order) Hyperia, Nemesis, Wickerman, Colossus, Nemesis Inferno, The Smiler, Oblivion, Stealth, Rita, The Big One, Icon, Grand National, Shockwave, Gold Rush, Vampire, etc? Drakon looks pretty good, but...- jon81uk

I don't think it looks like Drakon will be one of the UKs best coasters.- jon81uk

Hotels General Discussion
No one is going to be providing anything significant for smokers nowadays, there is a general push against smoking nowadays so no one is going to make a highly themed structure relating to it. Also there already is a covered smoking area at the front of the hotel.- jon81uk

Paultons Park: General Discussion
Its really hard to say, Chessington was part of the Tussauds group since 1987 and Alton Towers since 1992. Without the input of Tussauds I don't think either park would be where they are now, things like Vampire, Fifth Dimension (later Terror Tomb), The Haunted House and Nemesis probably...- jon81uk

Merlin Entertainments: General Discussion
The offer is until June, so it looks possible to book a stay at May or Easter bank holidays when the pass isn't valid anyway. But overall the essential pass has very few restricted days anyway, they have massively cut the prices of the annual passes, this is basically the old silver pass...- jon81uk

I think smoking is only permitted at the front of the hotel anyway, although not 100% certain (and some people probably ignore the rules and smoke on the patio anyway).- jon81uk

Well we don't know yet what will be offered for 2026. I was just speculating that it will be the same as last year. It might be different for 2026.- jon81uk

My guess is that ERT is going to be school holidays only or similar. I think they did summer-only ERT last year?- jon81uk

Serious questions and musings
Motorway is easier as just straight lines and don’t need to worry about cars coming toward you in the other lane, or tight windy corners, or illegally parked cars, or a bus pulling out the bus stop.- jon81uk

Chessington World of Adventures Resort
Exactly. At times some management realised more work is needed leading to things like TLC at Alton Towers but they were jet washing and similar anyway. I’d celebrate a little more replacing theming like TLC did to Mutiny Bay and similar but just adding more paint is routine.- jon81uk

Hard to say really until the park opens in March? We don’t know what level of cleaning and painting is happening, but it does take place in February & March most years.- jon81uk

2026: General Discussion
Although it can also lead to people putting off visiting until the new thing opens up. It dodn't look worth bothering going to Chessington in 2025 with so much closed. Paw Patrol will help, but I can see people not wanting to visit until 2027 when Minecraft opens. Universal also saw attendance...- jon81uk

Doing what is expected isn't really "hard work". They aren't particularly going above and beyond, compared to Paultons adding new dinosaur figures to an existing area which is adding something not expected, Chessington painting stuff is routine maintenance.- jon81uk

Dreamland Margate: General Discussion
They still offered pay-per-ride in addition to wristbands. We went in 2019 and paid just for Scenic Railway without riding anything else. Can’t remember how much it was just for the one ride but something around a fiver sounds about right- jon81uk
