1995 B&M Dive Coaster patent

I'm trying to work out what they've actually patented here? It obviously can't the the vertical drop because other companies have done it. It just appears to the exact layout.

This patent was in 1995, before any coasters like it had been installed anywhere.

As we are onto patents. Here's some for the B&M splash 'brakes'.

They have patented different designs of fins, some of which can be seen here, different fins for different effects.

Could this patent have been a precursor to what later became the splash brakes used on rides like SheiKra, Griffon and Diamondback, amongst others?

Not a pre cursor I do not think. This is what covers those rides. The fact it shows a 4 across ride vehicle makes no difference as the patent is specifically covering the splash brakes, as they are known as.
