Just to add to this, I really enjoyed the POV we did get. Don’t want you to think I meant it wasn’t enjoyable. So thanks to KH TT BPE and TPWW and others :)

I don't understand why anyone would want to watch a pov (good or not) of the ride before experiencing it for yourself. So far I have avoided everything said about the pre show and only seen the off ride footage.

I don't want the whole experience spoiled for my visit a week today.

Same here pal. I can understand it if it's a new ride abroad or something and you won't get to ride it for maybe years, or even in this case if you can't get to Towers for a month or so. But when it opens in less than a week, my mind boggles as to why anyone would want to lessen the impact of their first actual ride by watching a video of what they are going to see and feel a few days later. Each to their own though I suppose. I want it now now now now now now.

Everyone has their own way of doing things, I don't think I can be bothered avoiding spoilers for this (especially POVs) but Symbolica was like the plague to me...

Might keep the pre-show unknown before the verbal description, see how I feel... But it's not such a problem if people want to delve into every nook and cranny this week...
 
On a different note, one of the things that has struck me on these "pov's" is how long the ride duration seems to be (comparatively to other European GCI woodies), so I had a quick ride duration count-up.

Wickerman: 1min 49sec
Troy:1min 46sec
Woodan: 1min 42sec
Joris: 1min 21sec

(calculated from dispatch to the ride hitting the final brakes)

Caveat 1 - The above was calculated on POV's for the other coasters once they have been established running woodies, were as wicker is relatively new and will likely speed up.

Caveat 2 - I in no way subscribe to the idea that a longer duration means a better ride.

Just thought it was interesting as I genuinely thought we would be getting something far less substantial in terms of ride time than Joris, never mind Troy or Wodan.

It looks to have a decent length, a decent intensity, some great theming and atmosphere and it has to be one of the most photogenic coasters out there. The corner is probably one of my only quarrels with the ride not having ridden it but other than that, it looks fantastic.

I prefer reverse pov's, there more fun looking at the people's reactions than what the ride is doing, if anything it's a clever bit of marketing on Alton's part as it doesn't totally give the rides circuit away to Joe Public but it does give them a taste.
 
My memory may be shoddy but I'm not sure POV's have ever been high on Towers agenda for new rides (smiler might have been an exception).

To be honest I don't think a POV will do Wickerman any favours, I have an open mind on how good or bad this rides but even if it turns out to be amazing it's not a layout the Jo Public will find mind-blowing on a video. I suspect that's why they are sticking to face on videos and hoping word of mouth carries this ride.
