Another option they have is keeping the Dungeons setup but re-theming it to a David Walliams story. Would be like Shrek's Adventure in London, which is essentially a family-friendly version of the Dungeons.

I sincerely hope they don’t. It would be a waste of a ride that could give them the capacity they need.

If they want a walk through story type attraction this can go in the old Nick building.

The problem with the Dungeons building is that it’s not exactly in the same area as TWoDW, it’s unfortunately on its own in a rather undervisited corner of the park. There’s plenty of empty buildings for TWoDW to expand into, and I really like the idea of a permanent Sizzler in one of the buildings, and then perhaps a Hex style walkthrough attraction too with a ride element at the end.
Since Merlin made the great mistake of introducing The Dungeons to AT, I’ve always thought that the ride system and building would suit a “History of Alton Towers type of attraction from the mid 20th century up to the present day.

You could quite easily move the boundary of TWODW so the entrance to the area starts as soon as you leave Fountain Sq. Meaning Skyride, Burger Kitchen and Dungeons building become part of the area.

It's only a moveable archway and a picket fence. It's quite clear that it's built as the same area which makes the fence and the Dungeons look even more silly. The sooner it's restored to its original as built layout the better

So we rode Gangsta Granny again this weekend (against our better judgement we went straight there at 9am so my sister and her husband could ride as they hadn’t tried it yet) and got on the ride at about 11:30 (it opened late) . It promptly broke with us on board - turns out the bubble effects are tripping the sensors. Has anyone been since and are the effects switched back on?

In terms of utilising those empty buildings, some indoor flat rides presented in a similar way to those in the Ireland section of Europa Park would be great.

I rode on Sunday afternoon and it was working fine, but closed later in the day. Did you have to be evacuated?

    Good shout!
I see what you mean, I know Frog Hopper has in the past operated in the hotel so they could potentially put stuff in the Nick building and I presume the Charlie elevators still exist. I do however think the theatre should remain a cinema or a theatre.

We rode Sunday morning , we didn’t have to evacuate but they very kindly allowed us to go straight back on once everything was reset, there’s a curtain at the offload station which I assume is intended for rider swap and to take wheelchairs through :)

Yeah we saw a wheelchair being taken though just before we got to the gates. :)
Did you think the audio was too loud? My whole group jumped after the finale. :p

I thought the audio levels were absolutely fine (just loud enough to cover up the noises of the ride system and air blasts), but with some of the noises being quite “sudden” I don’t know if I’d recommend it to anyone with sensory issues

Yeah the special effects are quite intense for a family ride. :tearsofjoy:

Well that's my personal opinion from my ride on Sunday afternoon. :)

Went on Gangsta Granny yesterday. The general area I was a bit disappointed with. It’s a shame to see the old 4D Ice Age building just standing there not being used. If it were not for Gangsta Granny the area would not be worth the visit.

So the ride… 40 min queue which was ok listening to the audio and looking at the pictures. Staff were excellent. I just happened to be wearing a striped top so got picked on all the way though the queue that I was a jewel burglar!

The actual ride experience… enjoyable. A bit short and I was surprised the ride cars don’t tilt which would have been a great effect for the falling down the pipe sequence and for the explosions. However, it was a very enjoyable experience and I loved the cannon bit.

If the queue isn’t too big then it’s worth a go and I think kids will love it.

A good thing that surprised me was the size of the cars. They are a lot bigger up close than they look in photos and videos. Can easily hold 4 adults in each row! :)

Well I tried out GG and thought it was a really nice dark ride, a great addition to the park.

I liked that each scene changed and the story was told in a fun way (for kids) instead of lost or forced on you.

It doesnt pretend to be a headline ride and in that sense I think the IP works well for the area. Currently it's the main family ride by default, but I hope we get a big no nonsense family dark in the near future.

The queue is awful, some effects were unconvincing but overall I thought it was a pretty neat ride for kids!

Only rode FFF in here today GG was advertised at 100 whilst we were in a 5 min queue for FFF. I do actually think it fits in with the area quite well to be honest, noticed it got Flavio talking whilst the ride is in motion.

I may be jumping the gun here, but I have a funny feeling that FFF may not be a temporary attraction. I enjoy a good Sizzler anyway, but there seems like there's been a little more effort put into it than the other temp flats. It still looks ghastly with all those naff lights and almost completely devoid of theming of course but a permanent addition, even if it's not this particular one, wouldn't surprise me. Perfect for the older families target market also.

As for the area, I like the design of the GG building from a distance (apart from the awful "windows"), it just looks like it was knocked up on the cheap with paint already flaking on the doors and coving with the old colours showing through. The farting frog hopper is hilarious. The entertainers were awesome. The buildings look disastrous, especially from the right side of the cinema onwards, they look like a local school painted some card board. The planters by Driving School and the BK/Dungeon area - wow, jarring is not the word. What a Mish mash.

The GG queue itself is well designed from an aesthetics standpoint but no thought has been put into the longevity, especially with Merlin's track record of building things then forgetting about the upkeep. I give it 2 seasons until the wall paper is peeling off the walls, some curtain tassels get broken, paint is flaking off the picture frames and every bit of woodwork has "For Sex call Jaydon on 07........." etched into it.
