I guess they aren't doing anything to the track. It has always irked me a little since the re-work of Eurosat that the entire ball was not uniform. This will really look good next season.

Patrick Marx of Mack NeXT, known perhaps best from the NeXT Park Nerds videos in 2020, explained on EPFriends what exactly is being done.
the GRP and aluminum triangles are being restored, which means they are removed, the foil removed, several coats of paint applied, and reassembled. The first restored parts are already there and assembled, so the ball will never be completely "naked". Unfortunately... I would have been happy about an open-air ride

There are a total of 29 different forms (of triangle), the most common appearing 185 times, but there are some that only appear 5 times.

After Poseidon the track stealing thief has also visited Wodan. Or it's receiving some retracking too.:p

Rust are also soon discussing a planning application for an Open Air Show Venue for TV recordings with production staff facilities. Obviously for Immer Wieder Sonntages to move out of the way for the BigDipper - where exactly it will go though is not yet clear.

It’s really quite nuts how much EP seemingly gets done in a closed season; to be honest, so much happens at EP so frequently that some stuff that would be treated as quite major news in many places just becomes background noise within an EP update!
 
In the long term plans, does it call for making that area a second gate? Or is the aim for that to be waterpark + hotel (with obviously this new ents area attached) and the theme park to be separate?

No more so than the arena/dome at the park entrance end of the park are.
 
I guess they want to add more and more stuff to that end of the resort as times goes on, firstly they’ve got loads of empty land to do what they want with, plus if they add to the main park, it stops theme park expansion.

I think we’ll see plenty more bits added to this end of the resort as time goes on.
 
Having not followed EP for a while, what is happening to Poseidon?

They are re-tracking parts of the ride, including the first drop. I think the new track has just arrived on site in the last week.
