[2024] Rulantica General Discussion

You will DEFINITELY see people of all genders in the buff. It's considered completely normal and nonsexualised so the locals are not coy about it.

You can cover up with a towel in the sauna areas but note that you'll need to sit on a towel and possibly put one under your feet as no part of your skin should be in contact with the wood. (You'll be reminded of this if you're not doing it right.) It's also not really possible to wear a towel in the shower area which is communal and towels aren't permitted in the steam room.

I have personally found the "when in Rome" approach to be the most practical, though it has to be said it's always been something I've done as a solo activity than with a big group of friends. There is always next time though!

You can easily enjoy hyggedal without going into the sauna area, and can keep swim gear on in the lounge bit. You can also go out to the outdoor areas in the spa and use the loungers there without having to go fully naked. However to use the sauna and steam room you are required to be nude, with the option of keeping towels around you and having extra towels for feet if required.

Since first venturing into the spas with a few other TST members several years ago, they are now a massive draw to staying in the hotels for me. The sauna activity is second nature to most Germans, so best to keep an open mind if you want to experience it. Just be warned that you may find situations where you cannot preserve your modesty in full.

Hi I'm visiting next Sunday with a 5pm entry ticket. Does anyone know what the exact procedure is? Will they let you in early (say 20 minutes) or is it they won't scan you in until 5pm?

Also which slides would people say are the must do ones? Not really much of a water park person usually, last one I went to was the one at Holiday World and that was just ride the big 3 slides and then back into the dry park.

There aren’t really any must do slides unfortunately, with the possible exception of the rapids, Vildstrom. The lazy river is pleasant and the outdoor slides in Svagulrok are usually close to walk on.

Your best bet is just to have a wander around and enjoy the slides you fancy the look of, grab a drink at the swim up bars and just generally have a mooch.

I have heard they let you in slightly early to allow for changing time, but can’t confirm from personal experience.

I did moonlight last night. Got in 10 mins early. I’m not a huge water park person either but I enjoyed it thoroughly. I just wandered around, tried everything once, got some food/drinks etc. If you arrive really early go and have a drink in the Panorama bar before going in.

In Rulantica today. Noticed a few menu changes across the park. Salads at Lumalunda are different, as is the Hyggedal offer which is now 'Tarte Flambée Bagels' or yoghurt bowls with varying options or patisserie.

Alcohol free cocktails are now more than the hotels - they're clearly capitalising on a captive audience.

Beer is €4.40.

Wine €5.30.

Mocktails €9.80.

I quite enjoyed the Asian bowls they used to serve in Hyggedal. Shame they’re gone.

Most importantly though, have the normal cocktail prices gone up?

Hi everyone, had a great evening in Rulantica today. They do let you in at 4.45pm so I was already on the mack splash battle by 5pm.

Just amazed by the whole experience the Rulantica/Kronosar area is just so beautiful. Was about 90 minutes early so took the advice and made use of the Panorama bar beforehand.

Think I did all the major slides, the wild rapids, Snorri Saga (could spend hours going round and round), the outdoor slide tower, and the outside swim up bar.

The wristband system worked perfectly so it was easy to buy food and drink and then pay before leaving.

Love Snorri as well, what a mascot!

Do they have a swimsuit drier/wringer? Was considering going to Rulantica the day of my flight back, but need to consider how to dry my swimming shorts before stuffing them in my bag!

Buy a watertight plastic bag and shove it in damp?

Or wear an old pair and throw them out 😄

It’s interesting to note that in its first full non-Covid year, the TEA attendance report is showing Rulantica as having 1.2 million visitors in 2023 (up from 0.9m the previous year), making it the seventh most visited water park in the EMEA region. I’m not sure what the initial projections were, but 1.2 million visitors feels like a respectable attendance level for a new(ish) waterpark.

Next year, I'm at Phantasialand for 2 days, have 1 travel day then 5 days at EP. 1 of those days is a Rulantica day. My wife suggested 1st day at EP as Rulantica day. I think it'll be brutal on the body and think final day at Rulantica. From people that have gone, what's your take. Day 1, 2, 3 4 or 5?

I like to do the "Rulantica Sandwich" with my 3-day trips, so EP, Rulantica, and then back to EP for the final day. I only go during the week so queues are not really an issue on any of the days, but if you have 5 days and some of them are on the weekend I would highly recommend moving Rulantica to a weekday.

My preference is always Rulantica as your second theme park day. So EP, Rulantica, EP, EP, assuming you have 4 parks days across 5 nights. It means you can enjoy the water park without it being the last day, or the next day being the last day. On the other hand I’ve done it on the first and last days before and they’ve still been very enjoyable, just not my preference.

I'd save it for last personally. Rulantica was easily the most knackering day of the last time I was at EP, despite having 3 days in the park as well. Also, if you don't wear pool shoes, some of the floor surfaces will try and wear your feet out - I found the first time I went that park days with a post-Rulantica shredded big toe pad are not fun.
