[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

Just for reference, this is DC Rivals Hypercoaster's backwards seat;

The last car still has four seats, with the back row turned 180 degrees, and has another lead section (zero car?). So if Hyperia did get one it would be a whole new car.

Looking at another image, it appears as though the equivalent of the seccond to last row is flipped and the last row is removed with another zero car added on the end. (Or attached to the back of the last car, hard to tell)

Ah yes you're right, the last car only has two seats.

As good as riding it backwards would be, and the designers of the ride themselves said that backwards seats could definitely happen on it, how would it work in that station? Is there even any room to allow for a queue for the backwards seats?

I'm sure the ride still has a few seasons worth of natural draw as the UKs tallest before marketing need reversed seats to trade off of.
I'd agree that Hyperia can stand on it's own two feet without the need for upcharges however I can see Thorpe upcharging to take advantage of the Hyperia Hype 😅

I'd say that's now the park's new icon which was previously Stealth 🙂

I can imagine other problems with the train, whilst it could be possible I struggle to see how they would modify the current rear rows to be able to have backwards seats, they could swap the car but that would mean the rear 2 rows are facing backwards, a car can't be turned around since it is a trailer design.
some other practical problems are:
structure of seat means the peoples legs are hanging down past the back of the ride
the flooring of the rear would have to be extended with railing added (can't get onto a seat hovering above a track)
and a couple more such as having to move the air gates.

I would imagine a lot of modifications are required to a car, or a new car is required.

an image of the rear rows for context:

Surely they will do the same as they did in Australia. With that mack coaster with backward facing seats

if you are talking about the dc rivals we did discuss this a bit above here:

for a tldr to get hyperia to do this they would have to remove the last row, flip the second to last and adding an end car thing, not impossible but it would probably cause a headache in the station and would reduce capacity.
