[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

I'm expecting this ride to be stylised rather than themed. Kind of like a lot of recent Sea World / Busch Garden additions.

Having said that a full themed Egyptian land would look amazing alongside the Lost Continent if they ever put real money behind it. Dedicating the left side of the park to ancient civilisations.
Imagine if Saw took on the theme of an Egyptian temple, opening onto the lake as if the lake was the Nile.
There's already a pyramid within the area.
And even without fully themeing the new ride it could be made to look like a towering monument to the God's.

I doubt this will happen but there's a seed of a great idea here that would actually tip Thorpe Park back into being a proper Theme Park.

Couldn't care less if its themed or not.

Standards have plummeted over the years. We went from the beautiful Canada Creek to whatever Old Town was supposed to be.

The ugly Storm Surge was plonked into the middle of the park, Angry Birds Land was shoehorned in between Stealth and Tidal Wave.

It's more of an amusement park than theme park now, which is fine if that's the route they want to go down. It's a thrillseekers park and the average guest won't care about themeing. The Six Flags model.

I would hope that this is themed, and it being Egyptian-themed has a lot of potential, but I only expect stylised theming sadly. The pyramid is too far away from Exodus to be incorporated into the theme.

At this time, I'd agree. Long term though the current entrance to the pyramid is obscured by Storm Surge. With Slammer removed the back of the building would make for a far grander entrance, and the two entrances would be opposite each other.

Yea I really wouldn't get my hopes up on some theming masterclass, expect the best ride experience in the UK that's over too quickly that's a couple air time hills and banked turns away from being world class.
Theming wise I'm thinking of the likes of icon which will be stylized but nothing to the likes of wickerman.
If we get a couple near misses like swarm and a similar area in quality of theming then I'd be very happy but I doubt it.

But if the planning permission hints that Merlin are mostly using the area and the lake for 'theming' with the splash down area and plaza, not to say there won't be any theming bits scattered around but I think the hardware of the ride itself will be the main focus.

With Nemesis returning the same year, I doubt it'll be the best ride experience available in the UK
Ha that's true I do really love nemesis but I really think this might top it, my only gripe with Nemesis is that it could be a bit longer and that's also the biggest fault I can see with project exodus so it's going to be fun battling them out next year.

Would work really well having his theme tune playing and pyro going off whilst on the worlds longest break run

Just reviewing the plans recently released, the outer-banked barrel roll half way through the ride is 60.4m (198ft), which would make it the world's tallest inversion by a singular foot (currently Steel Curtain at 197ft)...

It says 50.4m in that image, which is around 165ft.

I do find it interesting that the second element is supposedly taller than the first, though… wouldn’t you normally expect elements to get shorter as the ride goes on?

For those interested, that image states that the maximum ride height is exactly 72m (236.2ft), the initial Immelmann is 48.4m (158.8ft) tall, the outerbank/roll is 50.4m (165.4ft) tall and the dive loop is 43.9m (144ft) tall.

I find that interesting too as Exodus does not use terrain to its advantage.

If they are going Egyptian it's surely not too much of a leap to think they could refeb and encorperate the pyramid using the rear entrance currently utilised for the scare maze. Don't know when TWD is time up on the IP, but returning it to a family coaster in the dark, with an Egyptian flavour, could easily work. Possibly as a phase 2 to turn the new ride into a new area after a season or two?
