[2026] CBeebies Land Junior Coaster

Presumably if they shorten the route then that will give it a higher throughput?

Pleased to see it is staying, it’s kind of a classic now.

Only if the number of ride vehicles is static. It could be thirty feet or three miles long, but if they had enough vehicles to fill that track and dispatch one as soon as the track ahead was clear the throughput would be static. If there weren't enough vehicles for the the track buying more vehicles would be the answer, not shortening the track.

There isn’t really a way to positively spin this.

That’s the point though isn’t it, if the number of vehicles remains static and the route is shorter then it does theoretically boost throughout.

Ultimately the impact of this depends on how much shorter they are making it, if it’s a minor diversion then it’s a non-story, neither positive nor negative. If it’s a big chop then it’s naff.

Is this for certain though? All TPWW saw was what looked like prep for footers covered in bark chippings and he assumed the route is being shortened.
This has been the generally rumblings since Project Sunshine was first announced, so I think at this point it is safe to say that the park's aspiration is to keep and shorten Get Set Go.

That said, 2026 is a long way off, especially when Merlin are in budget-cutting mode.

Would they need planning permission for this?

Fortunately I've not had to Nutty Squirrel queue for years, if currently there is a wait for vehicles to return then yes it will help. It's still the craopy way of achieving the 'improvement' though. Imagine spending money to make something better rather than worse, what a novel concept that'd be!

I mean that would be true if that was the reason for doing it but it isn’t, it’s to accommodate a new ride.

There is just too much unknown about this to make my sort of assessment on the impact. All we know is it seems to fit a new family coaster into CBeebies they are altering the route of an existing ride.

I don't think so, not for the track over the Postman Pat site. I believe the track here is below the 5m mark, so covered by permitted development.
ah ok, i recall earlier people saying there wasn't a GDO for the cbeebies area, I wonder how long would this take for them to replace the track, if get set go going to be down for the first few months of the season?

Ah wait, no. I think you're right, you're literally referring to a post I made earlier in the thread.

It's all bizarrely complicated. Get Set Go actually spans an area with different planning rule depending on where modifications are made. And those rules aren’t quite the rules that most of us thought they were until recently.

That said, I'm not sure if we'll see planning permission for the change they seem to have in mind, as the change won't necessarily be all that substantive.

It's so hard to see postman pat being removed we have spent the last 2 days at the event and the ride has had queues upto 50 minutes its constantly busy

Think that’s partly why it’s going, because the throughput is pretty bad for a ride like that. I guess a coaster will have higher capacity so hopefully smaller queues.

Saying that the same logic should apply to get set go which now a days seems to run 4 cars and a full queue.
