Disney interested in a Star Wars park?

I wonder if this concept would have already been explored, had Universal not gone against their plan to use the land which is now Islands of Adventure for a full-sized Gotham City with every single attraction revolving around Batman?

It certainly looked like a brilliant plan but I think not going ahead with it was probably a better idea. A Gotham City area is a good concept though, just a shame parks like Six Flags don't do the theme as much justice as it deserves. :/

I can't see this happening for a loooong time yet.... It'll only get the go ahead based on the success of the next trilogy. Imagine if they built this park over the next few years then the trilogy flops MASSIVELY, that would have a huge affect on the ip as a whole. Whereas if the trilogy is roaring success they'll be able to have more variation of themes across the park from all nine films.

What's the point in opening a park on a franchise of 9 films but only using 6 of those films to fill the park...

Well Waterworld from 1995 wasn't too successful but Universal Studios persisted and created a live show out of it for the Hollywood and Japanese parks. The shows continue to be a big hit.

Now as to whether it would work for a theme park... I'd say yes for somewhere like a Disney park. They'd no doubt create something really incredible which people who don't even like or follow Star Wars much can have a great time.

I wasn't much for the first and second Episodes and never bothered with the cartoons. I don't really know too much about anything Star Wars related, but I'm sure I wouldn't have to be a geek to love a theme park experience based on it all.
