Double Post Prevention System

Have seen a double post prevention system on other forums and was wondering if it would be possible to put in place on here because it would make parts of the forum look a bit tidier.

Personally I don't think double posting is a massive issue on this forum. It does happen a fair few times, but it's by no means a problem which needs a system to prevent it. The team are good at cleaning up messy double posts anyway.

My view on the matter has always been that double posting in itself is not a bad thing. Say that someone posted something a week ago, no one replies but now they have more news it makes sense for them to create a new post rather than edit an existing one.

It's also worth noting that (when I last checked) if you edit a post it marks it as new but does not bring the topic to the top of the forum so you might miss that all important new information. Plus it mucks up the Thanks system when someone edits a post with new information and you can't thank them again for their new contribution (not that that's essential of course ;) )

As a result of the above advantages double posting is quite common and useful in both the Other Attractions topic when someone has a specialist interest in a certain park and so posts most the information and RCT/NoLimits topics which by their nature have a creator who does most of the posting.

Unfortunately you will get some people who abuse it but I’ve only seen one or two people do so on here so it really isn’t a problem.

I don't think its really a massive issue, if anyone accidently double posts it can easily be reported to the team and we will remove it asap and in general we haven't really had anyone double posting.

Also, we try and keep modifications to a minimum on the forum so you guys have the best browsing experience whilst also making upgrades to the forum a lot easy.

We will of course keep an eye on things and if it ever does become an issue we will look into solutions :)

If it ever does become an issue (not that it will as we're all sensible people capable of using the report button ;) ) I'd suggest just a simple time limit system, say a one or two hour no double post period.

In my experience the only time double posts are ever abused is when someone posts twice without thinking or (and this is normally exclusive to the RCT topics) someone makes a rushed update then edits something new and tags it on at the end as a new post.

But currently even that is unnecessary.
