Gullivers Valley

We visited today, and had a really good time. Its no Paultons Parks, but for what it is, it is good and the little ones enjoyed there day out. For 3-8 years old this is a great day out, and a good price for those over 1 meter and acceptable for those over 90cms.

There is some issues they need to resolve, only two queues to get in meant that longest queue of the day was getting in to the park, unless you had a paper ticket which had its own queue, which next to no one was using as the web site advises you to use the mobile app, so when people did turn up with paper tickets, they were walking in.

The pirate ship was broken all day, and a few of the other rides had technical issues, some which got fixed, and others which meant the elephant ride would not go up and down. I am going to assume that a lot of the ride hardware was not new. But Daisy enjoyed the elephant ride even thought it was broken.

There is lots of themeing, but some of it feels a bit like its just being plonked here and there. You got the feeling most in the Lost World where there was plenty of dinosaurs, but they just did not have the same seamless layout which Paulton does with its dinosaur area.

The park looks a lot better than the pictures above make out. Yes, you can still see the tin shed in the background, but the kids dont notice that, and once Covid-19 is out the way, the inside area is going to offer plenty of things to do.

If we wanted a cheap and cheerful day out, close to home, we would certainly go back. If we wanted more of a holiday 2-day park we would go to Paultons, and if we wanted some bigger thrills for Annabelle, we would pick Towers.

We went the same day pal. The social distancing was pretty much none existent also, even though the signs said otherwise.

We also found the price for drinks and snacks was very reasonable also,

In a very interesting move, it would seem that Gulliver’s Valley recently opened what looks like a Zamperla Midi Discovery or similar:

Children must be braver than I expect, because while I know many young kids are very brave, I certainly wasn’t expecting a ride that inverts a full 360 degrees to go into a theme park supposedly aimed at young children!

It's an SBF VIsa Dance Party, there's also one at Gullivers Land (Milton Keynes)
I must admit I’m slightly surprised that Gulliver’s even entertains building inverting rides; small kids must be a lot braver these days than I was at that age!

I went yesterday for the Halloween event which was pretty poor but was a nice time to ride the rides after sunset.

Noticed a couple of rides had been removed, one being a children's drop tower, anyone know why it was removed?

It looks like Gulliver’s Land at Milton Keynes have opened a SBF Visa Race Coaster called Grand Prix Racers which is an exact clone of the one at Gulliver’s Valley in Rotherham with the same name.

I’d actually just assumed that they had relocated the Rotherham one over to MK but no, it seems that they did indeed buy another one so Gulliver’s now have two of the exact same ride with the same name in different parks.

I found the GV version pretty rough actually,

Yeah it’s a got a nasty jolt as you exit the helix and go through that weird headchopper cut out bit. I always find it funny that they’ve got one of these called Junior Red Force at Ferrari World in PA as if it’s in any way similar to the massive 367ft launch coaster next to it.

I'm not sure if opening has been confirmed yet but we visited in late October for a halloween event and could see construction. It looked pretty much complete and they were loading cars onto the track!

Was told on a tour of Gullivers Valley that one of the tube water slides they have actually came from Camelot (Pendragons Plunge).

Still have plans to build a wooden coaster ala Antelope as well.
did they mention what other plans they have for the park ? I sort of wish they had a more “permanent” looking castle rather than the shipping containers look they went for. Doesn’t look as great from far away

It looks crap from every angle I've seen it so far. I walked to the park during COVID and it looked awful then and when you see it from the road it still looks awful now.

It might look a bit naff to us but I think that your average five year old kid would find it pretty impressive and that’s who they are trying to appeal to.

Don’t forget that Gulliver’s Valley is one of the very few UK parks that has been built completely from the ground up in the past decade or two (rather than being an evolution of an existing attraction).

Having only seen the photos back from when it opened when I visited in the spring I was quite surprised at how nice it was. Especially seeing how they've opened at such a precarious time.

Nothing else I can remember sorry.
