Holiday Park - General Discussion

Update on 'SkyScream Part II' from Neverland Themepark Projects, some continental theming company.
Even if the new ride is a bit rubbish, at least it's something more major than was there before, and with the new station on EGF and extra theming on this, Holiday Park is taking another step next season towards being a nice place to spend time.

That is looking absolutely incredible, compared to what it was last April is really is unrecognisable as @Rob says!
Just looking at the companies Facebook page, they really have worked on a lot of major projects! They do pretty much all of Plopsa's theming work, along with having worked on Arthur at Europa, Oz'Iris at Parc Asterix and Disney Dreams/Disneyland Paris' Halloween Decorations! They have also designed and themed the main stage for the Tomorrowland Festival for the last 4 years! Pretty major company producing some fantastic work it has to be said! Hopefully somebody in the UK might decide to work with them!

So Holiday Park got one of those Gerstlauer Sky Fly thingys this year and they have now annouced that they will be getting two more new flats over the next two years to complete that area of the park.
An overview of what the area will be like once complete:
Concept for one of the new rides which will presumably be a wave swinger:
And some more conepts (the balloon ride is already there but will be re-themed):
Looks like it will be really goone once it is all done. Rumours of the woodie they might have been getting have gone very quiet these last few months mind.

Bump!
Parkerlebnis.de are reporting that Holiday Park will be adding a new idoor area named 'Heidiland' in 2018 which will include a family coaster from Zierer.
As well as the coaster there will be six other attractions including two carousels and a giant slide. There will also be a 500 seat theatre. The investment is set to coast around €8 million and they hope it will help Holiday Park move towards opening all year round.

Seems an odd investment for this park really. It already caters for kids and thrill seekers in abundance, why's there nothing in the middle? Why remove the Wild Mouse coaster? And why add Sky Scream?
IMO this park is crying out for a decent dark ride and a Wooden coaster.
GeForce is totally awesome, but the rest of the park is so....odd. I just found it so sparse.

I visited HP for the first time in 4 years last week, and was disappointed.
Whilst there is a new indoor area under construction to open later this year, I feel in many areas the park's initial improvement under Plopsa has stalled.
A massive queue at the park entrance was unpleasant to start with.
Food prices are very high - as you'd expect from Plopsa (Plopsaland is the same) - but when you are comparing to EP and everything is at least 25% more expensive, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Very average food offerings for high prices.
The park itself was looking modest, but I don't quite understand why they removed the Wild Mouse. It may not have been the best ride out there, but it filled a gap in the market... as it stands, the park have 2 thrill coasters and the kiddie opening soon.
As for operations - the less said the better. EGF opened at noon. Why? Who knows. It then opened with one train, the other nowhere to be seen. The queue was 50 minutes and with fastrack guests picking random rows, you ended up waiting an unknown amount of time in the packed, unorganised station. The snail pace loading was infuriating. The coaster was still good, but isn't top 10 for me these days. I just don't think it runs enough to ever properly warm up now...
No longer a fan of Holiday Park!

I don't get all the hype that Expedition Geforce ever had/has received. Yes its a good coaster but I wouldn't put it as one of the best in the world. I got two rides on it when I went in 2017, one on the front row and one near the back. Both rides were great and it is a good ride but I don't even think I would count it in my top 5, it may just push into my top 10 but thats it. The airtime is exceptional, but I just think the restraints let it down and pin you down too much - even giving you aches after.
Also, when I went Dan, the throughput on it was shocking. It was on one train operation and the queue wasn't even that big but took us 50 minutes to get on. Then when it comes to the station batching its a free for all for which row you want - the front row queue was a mass of people squished together to make sure no one squeezed in front of you
I don't think it helped that seeing as it topped Mitch Hawker polls for a few years and ranked highly in other polls too - plus people raved so much about it - I had built up too much of an expectation for it. I think the fact that I went to buy me and my missus' on ride photo (we always buy at least 1 ORP from each park we visit) as the last ride of the day and the camera system went down and didn't save our photo, left a little sour taste too.
