Whilst not in the UK, if you are after a Nemesis-beater in the form of a B&M inverted coaster, built into a made-to measure hole, then look no further than Black Mamba at Phantasia Land. The ride does not let up from start to finish & the dispatch sequence in the underground station with the loud music (that continues up the list hill buildings) is something else. Also look closely at the theming on Black Mamba - the attention to detail is something else. There are even voodoo dolls on the track footers that are visible from the pathways.

Phantasia Land is a one-off park in a country with lots of parks (and most owned by different companies) so the competition is real. As has been stated above, the problem we have in the UK is Merlins monopoly of the market - there is no incentive for them to go the extra mile.

I found the pacing of Black Mamba to be wrong. Fun first half, similar to Nemesis but then it just went into high G-force helixes which I just hated for the last section.

Nemesis is the better coaster overall but Mamba is well up there with the best. Quite possibly the best themeing on any coaster in the world.

Not Nemesis related, but how can you guys say you change the most in your teens if you're still firmly in them?

Regarding Black Mamba, I should be out in Phantasialand right now for a Joint trip with Efteling. I can't wait to get out of the country. Got the week off to go abroad and genuinely didn't know which UK park to go to with my time off. All look pretty much unbearable and there's no where else in the UK I really want to go other than Lightwater and Paultons. And I'm not driving all the way to Lightwater.

I'm 17 and not that far off 18 so I have completed most of my teens and I think you change more in you early teens than in your late teens due to obvious reasons.

    That's a fair point; I didn't think of that!

However, I think what @JAperson said rings true for me too. I think that for most people, opinions seem to change a lot more when you're younger than when you're older, as you're still growing up and gaining your own viewpoints on things.

Now, having reached adulthood (I turned 18 a month ago), I certainly have very different views on coasters to what I did when I first became an enthusiast at 10!

With regard to Mamba; I did always think it looked like a cool ride, although it's Taron that I'm personally clamouring for within Phantasialand!

Trust me guys, you're still a kid well into your 20's. Brace yourselves for the changes you'll experience in the next decade of your lives if you thought your teens were breakneck! And don't think hairs will stop appearing in new places for the next 20 years either, because I can tell you they will and in less desirable locations.

Anyway, back to Nemesis before I get told off......

:sob: brilliant - thanks for sharing your experiences even in the most subtle way.
Anyway nemesis for me has stayed consistent in my rankins and probably will remain so even into my 20's I'm sure it'll change every time he rides it for @Matt N as it seems his rankings change fairly regularly :):p

    So do I! :p

I reckon I changed more between the ages of 18 and 21 than I did between 15 and 18. I didn't even begin riding big coasters until after I met my husband (at uni) and he persuaded me not to be a wuss about them! :D

Steering things back onto Nemesis; would a retrack require planning permission? Or could it just go ahead, as the ride would be being kept exactly the same?

same. Although I met my husband age 19 and he persuaded me to get on a twist ride or something at the bonfire night date we were on. Slowly he got me riding coasters that I used to be scared of and now I ride more than he does!

Good question, and without looking in to it a bit more I am not sure. I reckon some sort of application might be needed, as it would be significant work. But it would be much more straightforward than an application for a new coaster all together, as it is just replacing an existing structure.

Like for like requires no permission, I think.
Dealt with a G2 listed house, not quite the same admittedly!
If there are no actual changes, only repairs, the planners don't want to know.

From what I understand it probably won't need permission however if they are doing significant work to the station building then it might.

Some enthusiasts in America - MidwayMayhem is one - have done videos while walking around the perimeter of B&M's factory (or one of their sub contractors) commentating on the track that's in the yard trying to work out where it's destined for. Are there any European members on here or do we know any that can set up camp outside B&M's factories in Europe and tell us when Nemesis shaped track is spotted?

Being slightly sarcastic with with post, but if anyone does spot anything....! :p

All B&M's track is made in the US. It'll appear there if it's going to be re-tracked.
