Re: Re: Ocean Kingdom China 2013: B&M Wingrider

I think you're confusing Ocean Park Hong Kong with Ocean Park China, Al. ;)

Edit: Sorted! Thanks, James! :D

Well someone has been busy! :p Screamscape has a load of updates regarding this park:

2014 - Shark Aquarium / Koala Exhibit - Confirmed - (1/10/13) In Fall 2014 Ocean Park will open their new Shark Aquarium, created from the former Atoll Reef, and will follow this up with a new Koala exhibit in Late 2014.
2016 - Ocean Hotel - Planned - (1/10/13) According to this news article Ocean Park has a new development plan for the next few years that will include the proposed 495-room Ocean Hotel to be built just in front of Ocean Park’s entrance and ready to open by 2016. Transportation will soon be easier to get to and from the park with the opening of the MTR South Island Line in 2015, just beyond the new hotel site.
???? - Indoor / Outdoor Waterpark - Under Consideration - (1/10/13) No timeline was given, but the park is still also planning on redeveloping the now-closed Tai Shue Wan area into a new indoor/outdoor water park area, possibly with retail and dining areas as well.

Sounds good! :)

Just found some concept art for what looks like a bobsled ride which is supposedly part of a big 'Polar Adventure' project:

There's a small article about it possibly rivaling some attractions at the Hong Kong Disney park here too.

Anyone know more about this concept art? It looks like an amazing idea!

That concept art is absolutely astonishing!

In other Ocean Park news, Premier have signed a contract to do the maintenance at the park according to this Facebook post. :)

I think I'd be right in saying that that concept art was for the already completed arctic area, which opened last year, looking like this...

Which, if true, is a bit sad, that art looks spectacular.

2016 - Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel - Planned - (10/12/13) Ocean Park has signed a deal with Lai Sun Development to build the first hotel in front of Ocean Park. The HK$4.1 billion investment will see six-story 4-Star Hotel built on the site which will be operated by Marriott International and named, “Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel”. They expect to break ground in the first half of 2014 and as part of the deal Ocean Park will recieve 1.75% of the hotel’s annual revenue.

Sounds like a themed, immersive masterpiece.
