PTR M&DS

I've posted this on Coasterforce but seing as I read about M&DS on here the other day I though I would post this here as well :)

Yesterday I visited M&DS With a friend who had never been before, I didn't mind that much as I haven't been since 2010 and I didn't ride the mine train ride last time.
We ended up just buying unlimited ride wristbands for £15 plus paying extra for the Booster. I didn't take that many pictures due to the weather being pretty terrible.

I'l post my thoughts on a few of the rides and photos of them as well as a few other pictures

Tornado-Still the worst coaster I've been on, wasn't so bad the first time I rode due to being in the front seat however the next time I went to ride the front seat was occupied so I went to the second row however the restraints wouldn't open so was told by the op to go to the back of the ride which was one of the worst rides of my life, it was horribly painful especially the loops and the helix. It was also strange having to take my bag on with me on this and tsunami. But Yea the ride was Vile. I filmed an onride video however my camera mucked up before the end however the rest of the video is ok.

Below are a few photos of the ride, It really needs painted.

Tsunami wasn't running that badly, It wasn't that rough and was almost re-rideable. It's queue was actually moving quite fast due to 3 trains which was a surprise. I also filmed this, heres a link if your interested

Noticed that "New for 2012" was the Express coaster moved to where the Log Flume used to be and rethemed to be called Space, It wasn't opened however it did test. I wasn't fussed as I'd been on it anyway. Managed to catch it testing though

Anyway I had an ok day I guess, the park is still pretty bad and it's it a shame there is hardly anywhere else to go to. It seems like it will be around for a while though as it still gets pretty busy. The food was terrible, the Knock off KFC places chips tasted horrible however they looked better than anything else they had on offer. I don't plan on returning anytime soon. The coasters are pretty terrible, the staff weren't great and listening to ipods and the park just looks rundown. Yea I wouldn't recommend the place.

Thanks for sharing this, you don't hear M&D's talked about a lot on here. I love the fact that with Tornado, Pinfari took a Zyklon which is already a rough painful small coaster then super-sized it making no changes to the track or train. The result looks slightly terrifying.

I'm a student at Glasgow University and I still haven't been to M&D's yet. I don't think I'd like it much but I still feel obliged to go as it's the local park. Loudoun Castle looked like it was a much nicer park and I wanted to get there to ride Twist n Shout but then it closed. Ah well....

On another note, I'd love M&D's to take Tsunami to Hull Fair or Nottingham again. It's probably not the greatest coaster ever but it was brilliant having a fairly large coaster on the UK fair circuit.

[Edit] Just correcting myself: It seems that the track and trains on Tornado are different to the ZL range. The cars are the same but the rolling gear and track is different. [/Irrelevant edit]

Thank you for sharing a trip report for a park I'm unlikely to personally visit anytime soon, but have always wondered what it's like.

Just out of interest, have you visited Wicksteed Park? It's a large park fairly close to Kettering, which appears fairly similar, with largely unthemed rides and little area theming either. Yet, Wicksteed seems to have a character, a feel, a personality about it. I wonder if you felt the same on your visit? Does M&D's have a soul is what I'm basically asking, and if it doesn't does it need one?

Is it a park you'd enjoy if you went with a gaggle of mates for a laugh, or would it still be a poor park?

Sorry if this is a tad rambly, just finished a long shift and the monster energy drink is running out!

I Haven't been to Wicksteed park as it's quite far to travel to, I know it does have the same coaster as the Space ride at M&DS Thought.
M&DS Doesn't seem to have a nice atmosphere or soul and bar the Entrance shops and cafe it seems like the whole place could be removed in a month and not a trace would be left behind. It has a sort of rundown carnival feel. It sort of needs a soul however It needs better rides and better staff first.
Also It's always a poor park no matter who you are with but it can still be fun if your with the right people.

That park looks absolutely dire to be honest.

It's a permanent theme park that looks worse than most temporary fairgrounds.

Just be lucky Englishmen that you have parks that are at least nicer than what we Scots have to put up with! Oh well, until a miracle happens to Scotland's already non-exsistance theme park industry, then we're stuck with this wasteland of a 'theme' park. :(
