The Doctor Who Experience (Picture heavy)

Has anyone heard of it? It's in Cardiff bay quite close to the studios where they film the show. It is basically a Doctor who maze and then some of the costumes and props that they used in filming. The maze is quite good and has some amazing theming.

The Maze - You start off queuing outside and then you walk into a room with a big screen in front. You get a video with The Doctor explaining who he is and what he does. Then he mentions the cracks in time and the screen splits in two but the split is the shape of the crack in time. I thought this was quite clever myself.

Then you walk in a room, which is suppose to replicate the spaceship that was powered by the whale, so it has the Smilers (which are quite creepy). You get a speech by an android on some of the famous artifacts in the room. Then there are some light and noise effects and The Doctor comes onto the screen shouting for Amy and Rory. He then sees us and talks for a bit. He explains where he is (In the Pandorica) and what he needs us to do. He then makes the Tardis appear in the corner of the room and we are told to get in.

We enter the Tardis and it was really impressive, the set up was amazing. There are some controls which the Doctor tells the younger children to operate. The floor vibrates and there are some more light effects, we eventually land and are told to get out.

We landed on a Dalek ship, and are told to quickly walk down a corridor. We then reach a room where there are three Daleks. The Doctor then tells us not to worry and the Daleks not to kill us. Just before they were going ti exterminate us the Daleks come into contact with some of the old style Daleks, they then argue with the old Daleks that they should be exterminated. They disagree so they they start to shoot each others ships. The Doctors tells us to get out while they are arguing. (could the new Daleks fighting with the old ones be a sign of a future episode?)

We then Enter the Tardis again and are transported to another scene.

The next scene is weeping angels, when I saw this I had high hopes for it. What happens is you walk on a path between a few angels. There are multiple sound and light effects to give the effect that they are moving. But it doesn't work that well. I was left a bit disappointed with this as it could have been so much better than it was. But the setting and theming of the scene were quite good.

We then get handed some 3D glasses and watch a video of The Doctor escaping and then all the aliens who locked him in getting blown away. The video was quite nifty and used 3D very well. Then we get told to leave the room and we get to look at the exhibits.

The maze is very good, its theming is some of the best I have ever seen. If you like Doctor Who then you will love it. :)

Unfortunately your not allowed to take pictures of the maze. But you are allows to take some of the exhibits so here are some.

(Sorry for bad quality as it was quite dark)

Has anyone been to this before? :)

I did the thing when it was at Earls Court, London earlier in the year.

It was good I enjoyed it. This is the same stuff, just slightly redesigned for the different building.

High quality production values in the show section, although I found the museum bit more interesting.

Jon

This looks really interesting! Is it more museum or hands on though? One thing I will say, is that the creepiest thing here is either an Ood or the Matt Smith mannequin

It's not hands on, you can't touch any of the exhibits.

That Matt Smith mannequin is really strange, it looks even creepier in real life. :p
