We are looking at doing a small European theme park trip in August. We will only have 5/6 days and it’s predicted to be one of the busier weeks in most places.

Where would you go? We have 2 children and have done Plopsaland, Efteling, Phantasialand, Toverland, Europa, Parc Asterix previously. Saving Disneyland Paris for Frozen next year.

We haven’t done Portaventura for a good few years but the operations puts me off.

I have been looking at Walibi Belgium and Bellawarde as they both water parks but not sure how theyll compare.

Thank you!

Have you looked at Liseberg? Although you may want to wait for the water park to open.

I'd go for Tripsdrill. Great park with a classic and a modern side, and a seperate animal park. It's isolated with nothing to entertain you in the evening other than each other but the wagon accomodation is funky. Fly into Baden Baden hire a car for a day at Holiday Park and night in the lovely town of Speyer, and then it's a simple hour and a half drive to Tripsdrill for a couple of nights.

Tripsdrill ops were dreadful on my visit. If you go when busy it might be a mess. Nice park though.

Bellewaerde is great. Capacity is a question mark but the actual park is a really nice place to be.

I think you should do Port Aventura - and go for a Fast Pass even if it means dropping a day or two,. It's celebrating it's 30th Year anniversary and yes it's got a bad rep but it's also open to 1030pm in summer. We stayed at Gold River (posted a trip report recently on this forum) and it was great. FP can be decided on the day so it's no pressure to advance book.

I have never really looked at Liseberg! Have you been before? I think we will wait until the water park opens! I hadn’t seen about the fire - I don’t know how I missed that!
I've not been before, but it's high on my bucket list! Plenty of people on here have been, though.

Liseberg didn't seem expensive. It's also really, really easy to get to. Land at Landvetter, bus is directly outside arrivals, first stop is outside Liseberg. On the most expensive days it's 625 SEK or a smidge over £48. Worth it as its such a nice park.
