USA Road Trip 2018

From Saturday, July 28th, myself along with a few other friends from TowersStreet will be embarking on one of our mammoth trips. This year, it's the USA. Many of the parks will be first time visits for me, but there will be some revisits to some favourites from 2013. I'll be using this topic sporadically to post a few bits and pieces during the trip. I wouldn't call it a place for full trip reports, but more nuggets of information and opinions on things, when relevant.

The parks we are visiting this year are as follows:

• Cedar Point (revisit)
• Mount Olympus
• Six Flags Great America
• Silver Dollar City
• Six Flags St. Louis
• Holiday World
• Kentucky Kingdom
• Kings Island
• Pigeon Forge Alpine Coasters
• Dollywood
• Bush Gardens Williamsburg (revisit)
• Kings Dominion (revisit)
• Hersheypark (revisit)
• Six Flags Great Adventure (revisit)

We're spending 2 days at Cedar Point, Dollywood and Busch Gardens Williamsburg and 1 1/2 days at Silver Dollar City. Understandably, we're only spending a few hours at some of the smallest parks such as Knoebels, Conneat Lake Park, Waldameer and Mount Olympus.

If anyone has any tips having been to any of these parks, do feel free to post!

Sorry, not got any tips. But planning a road trip in August next year so might be picking your brains once you return.

At Cedar Point if you're getting in for early ride time (9am) use the entrance by Hotel Breakers as it puts you on park closest to millennium force, top thrill dragster, and Steel Vengeance.

Stopped off at Waldameer last Saturday evening on the way to Cedar Point. Good weather and Saturday evening meant it was crazily busy with both main car parks and the overflows almost at capacity. Decided to chance it anyway for Ravine Flyer 2 and got lucky as it was mainly young families so the queue was only about 10 -15 mins, did Ravine Flyer twice and left as didn't fancy the queues on anything else.

Few bits that may be of use to you:

- Park opens at 12 but it's got staggered ride openings, signs by the queue entrance suggested RF2 was opening at just before 1pm
-Its either buy a wristband with unlimited rides or pay per ride using a Wally Card loaded with Wally credits at $1 = 1 credit. RF2 is 4.50 credits a ride, you can either top up exact amounts at the admissions kiosk or in multiples of 5 at the machines around the park.
